nope. It's variously been Schmitt, Smith, Smitts, and... Jenkins. Also, the name of Operation Fire Wing was pulled out of Jace's ass during a livestream (can't remember which one), you could literally hear Jace trying to come up with a name. Also, if you will tolerate a moment of sperg: the US Army's 41st Infantry Division existed from 1917-1968, seeing action in the Pacific Theatre. The Division was reduced to Brigade size in 1965 - the 41st Infantry Brigade still exists and did indeed serve in Iraq, deploying in Baghdad in 2003, Fallujah in 2004, and central Iraq 2009-2010. Sperging aside - Jace is still talking out of his ass.

Also, the 41st is from the Oregon National Guard.

I wish it was more surprising how some people can overestimate their own importance. And the importance of things they find important. There was never a chance of the state department or the embassy giving a damn about Eli unless he somehow managed to do something spectacularly stupid over there.

I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time I can see why people would think the state department would give a shit for two reasons. One is hearing stories on the news and internet of kids getting V& for silly shit they say online/at school. Plus the general post 9/11 security hysteria.

The other one is that on paper, Eli traveled abroad with the express intention of killing a foreign dignitary and had a "weapon" to do it. On paper Eli committed a serious felony, the facts on the ground are that he's just some stoner dipshit and the feds have other shit to do.

I think most of it is just people watching too much TV and not realizing that it isn't as easy to get detained in a "wacky misunderstanding" type situation as the make it look in movies.

I don't believe crossbows are actually controlled, as long as you don't take them as carry on or anything like that. I don't know if it's different for international flights, but I know a couple of archers who've taken bows in their luggage and not had any issues.

I think crossbows are controlled. I know longbows aren't and I'm pretty sure you can take them as carry on as long as your arrows travel in the cargo hold.

It isn't about the weapon being controlled, traveling with intent to do illegal shit is illegal it's self.

Controlled or not, unless your longbow is a very small one and can fit into that little box at check-in (to prove it fits under the seat in front of you or into the overhead compartment), you aren't going to be allowed to take it carry-on.

Most airlines have no problem letting you take your bow with you as checked luggage, though, so long as you have it in a good case and pay the oversized baggage fee. Hell, most airlines have no problem with rifles and even handguns in checked luggage so long as they are unloaded, declared ahead of the flight at check-in, and you fulfil any other procedures they require. Restrictions on such things generally fall to customs and whatnot at your destination; the airlines themselves are largely concerned just with anything that might harm the plane or other passengers (or likely to be stolen in transit - the biggest risk with checked weapons).

That's what I meant, checked luggage. I know certain musical instruments fall under the same regulations (guitars mostly)
