7.1-magnitude earthquake hits Venezuela, collapsing buildings in the capital of Caracas - ur mamas caracas make my girthquake
Situation is normal here in my area in Caracas. The central areas of the Capital are most affected like La Guaira. Officially they said there are 150 people killed but it's more. People are angry because: Many Miami influencers journalists are using videos and situation to make MAGA politics, others are waiting Trump do something, but situation is calm, nobody is hating nobody.
There is a 300 years old Catholic Church destroyed. Survived 10 wars since 1810 to 1903 and It was destroyed yesterday.
Anyone knows how Valencia and its suburbs are doing? My friend lives there, I messaged her few hours ago but so far she hasn't been online. I pray she's safe.
Really most cities affected are La Guaira and Caracas. Valencia, Maracay, Los Teques, and Puerto Cabello has minor damage, but those areas are affected too. Right now there is a problem with communications and blackouts, so we need to wait.
There have been some aftershocks, mostly in Caracas, in my city, however, things are mostly fine.
Civil Protection was at my building in the early hours to check the damages, so far, only superficial damages, mostly to the facade/plaster and some ceramic tiles here and there that fell of the wall. The Fire Department is going come at some point during the day to check the damages on each apartment, there is also some taskforce/commission made up of civil engineers that are going to check the most affected buildings in case of structural damages.
I was talking with a friend. He told me that his uncle's wife and her family was dead. She was in her home in Turmeno, Aragua State. The building collapsed. Nobody survived.
I maintain my hatred of cement bug hive buildings. The way they collapse and smush everyone inside is just the ultimate manifestation of how they crush the soul out of everyone on a daily basis.

I would bet the videos are legit. Crush injuries somewhat often present without bleeding or any visible signs of trauma thanks to skin and clothing. Until you palpate you really have no idea what kind of injuries they have and often times fatal injuries are invisible to the naked eye.
US Imperialism doesn't look too shabby now does it? They're probably hoping America steps in to rebuild if the damage is as bad as people are guessing. Best of luck Venezuelabros
I hate to ask this, but what happens now? It looks like every single structure at and near the epicenter has suffered catastrophic damage. And what can be witnessed doesn't touch how much underground infrastructure has also been ripped to shreds.
Will these entire cities and elsewhere have to effectively be razed and start from scratch? Is that even possible?
Won’t be the first time that cities have been rebuild from rubble after earthquakes/fires/bombings. It ain’t easy and it ain’t cheap but it’s hardly unprecedented.
