I just told my husband about this and his immediate and only response was "I hope that doesn't affect the price of oil."

Marry yourselves a true red-blooded goddamn American, fellow kiwis. They know what's important. 🇺🇸

The U.S. Geological Survey
Funivision, the government org that is supposed to you know, deal with this shit, is yet to say a public announcement. So all info we currently have comes from the US.

I'm as saddened by a people who have suffered so much at the hands of their government now suffering the wrath of mother nature as I am amazed at the sheer size & scope of White Boy Summer 2026.

The "two bodies" videos don't pass the smell test imho. The clothes are spotless and there's no blood. The first video shows a man in a red shirt without a spot of blood or any wounds lying in a pickup, while the second video shows the same guy on the ground, and his head moves. Near him is presumably an old man, lying face down on top of a pile of bricks. Again his clothes are spotless, and his head is never shown, nor are there any visible wounds. Next to him is an old woman with a genuine leg wound with visible blood and dust on her clothes.

I'm not saying that there's nobody dead in Venezuela, because there are certainly many dead in those collapsed apartments shown in the other videos. I'm just saying those two videos are very suspicious.

They are probably not dead, just wounded. The person talking is requesting medical help, and giving his current location.

[Funvisis] Has choosen to do shit itself and do nothing.

2 hours after the earthquake and their website isn't even reporting it yet. Their latest public statement was six days ago.

The Funvisis center is on the east side of Caracas up on a hill. I doubt the center was destroyed but they may have no Internet connection to update the website.

La Guaira was destroyed (The venezuelan version of Miami or Napoles). I saw some videos of destruction, but I can't upload, It's imposible send videos with this shitting signal.
La Guaira is cursed, nigga. They never recovered after the floods of 1999.

The only thing that somewhat calms me a bit is that this is not 2025 or 2024, when Venezuela was the most isolated. Now, thanks to Presidente Trump, if push comes to shove we can at least get some American aid.

i'm seeing literally no updates about the cities close to the epicenter like san felipe and puerto cabello. i imagine they're fucked given how damaged la guaira is despite being hundreds of km away.

I would bet the videos are legit. Crush injuries somewhat often present without bleeding or any visible signs of trauma thanks to skin and clothing. Until you palpate you really have no idea what kind of injuries they have and often times fatal injuries are invisible to the naked eye.

I’d much rather send money to rebuild in Venezuela than that Islamic shithole Iran. The only thing we should be sending there is more bombs. The Donroe Doctrine demands we send our finest capitalists to help our Venezuelan friends.

One of the closest cities to the epicenter is Puerto Cabello which has what is apparently Venezuela's largest and busiest shipping port. If the Puerto Cabello port is destroyed or severely damaged it is seriously bad news for the country economically and in terms of being able to receive materials for support and reconstruction.
