i'm not trying to a-log or ween or whatever the terminology is when people do stuff to chris that he doesn't like. I'm sorry it creates a difficult situation for Chris, but maybe he shouldn't have dropped all of his money and acquired a loan to buy a car without setting aside funds to fulfill his end of the contracts he made with 30+ buyers.

It's because he has the impulse of a child. Get money -> buy stuff. The idea of holding onto that money to actually be responsible and pay for things that he needs is not something he understands.

"Get-Up-And-Go Vehicle" sounds like a knock-off Transformers toy found in a Korean marketplace

And of course the two of them couldn't trade one or more in for the damn Focus. The cars tie the hoard together.

Well, they seem to be convinced that the Caddy and BMW are worth several times what any dealer would give them in a trade in. From that perspective, it makes sense for them to NOT trade one or both cars in for the new one. Forget the fact that everyone and their cousin are telling them the cars aren't worth what they say they are, a Chandler is never wrong! Well, they're never wrong except for the times when they are. Which is most of the time. Regardless, it could be hoarding behavior, it could also be just general :stupid:.

So...Chris basically follows these steps:

1-) Have money problems.
2-) Beg people for money.
3-) Get money by selling doodles and clay.
4-) Spend more than you should on Lego.

5-) Have money problems.
6-) Beg people for money.
7-) Get money fby getting a loan.
8-) Spend more than you should on car you don't need.

9-) Have money problems.
10-)Beg people for money.
Giving Chris money is like giving a heroin addict some money for another dose of drugs. Chris is financially incompetent, and is going to bankrupt himself sooner or later. Chris may not even learn anything from that. No matter how much money Chris receives, he's still going to fuck up and live beyond his means. For instance, over the past few years since Bob's death, his tugboat has gone up from $800 to $1300 a month, but in the end, that increase isn't changing the equation, just one of the inputs. (He'll still bankrupt himself, it'll just take a little longer)

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see him making some honest money on Ebay, and I don't hold that against him, but it's just delaying the inevitable financial crash that Chris is going to experience.

Also, even if Chris is making some money honestly nowadays, that still doesn't justify the stupid ways that he spends it. Even if a person earns money through hard and honest work, that doesn't justify them spending it on drugs, prostitutes, or other frivolities and leaving basic expenses unpaid. Chris is begging for more money and sales on facebook, citing his mother's medical needs and the household bills, but Chris is then spending thousands of dollars on legos and other bullshit. Only a very special individual indeed would be making financial decisions as stupid as Chris is right now. Yes, it's his money, and he has the freedom to spend it how he wants, but his greed, laziness, deceit, and lack of responsibility disgust me.

That's informative. : ( He makes more sitting on his ass than I do through working a month. I'm not trying to turn this into "amg Chris is a welfare leech!", but it's just interesting that between his tugboat and whatever Barb earns, they could live comfortably (if they were frugal). It just makes the whole begging and people handing him money even more flabbergasting.

Three cars, now. Three working cars. 1.5 cars per person. Which is a higher ratio than most of America owns.

To be fair, the old cars were dumb. Repairs and gas are much more expensive. Selling them then buying a Focus is decent decision. But if you are short on money, you kind of have to do it in that order.

By my best estimates, Chris has received approximately $100,000 in tugboat payments alone since 2006. That's not counting any other medical benefits or other welfare that Chris may have received in the meantime. Barb's social security is roughly about $1,000 a month, and she also receives a monthly pension from the utility company she retired from. The Chandlers are receiving over $2,500 a month in income, but they refuse to try to live within their means.

Chris and Barb did get an substantial inheritance from Bob though. Guess what happened to that? It was spent on legal fees/lawyer's fees in the aftermath of 28 October 2011. Because the arrogant manchild and his crazy bitch of a mother had to go back to the Game Place, (where they knew they were banned) and start a fight with the owner and then run him down in the parking lot, and then stubbornly refuse to admit their obvious guilt, they burned through all of the money Bob left them in legal fees. Just because they were two stubborn assholes, they ended up blowing their entire inheritance from Bob, and have nobody to blame but themselves.

I think Barb's thought train is that she won't have the loan for long because once the BMW sells she'll pay it off in full. If she had reasonable expectations for the sale price of her vehicles, and shopped accordingly, this isn't an unreasonable action. But, Chris an Barb being famous for their NO HAGGLE policy probably means that they paid what ever inflated price the dealership put on the sticker and got the dealership's in-house 23% interest loan. When the cars don't sell by the end of next month, and Simeon Yetarian sends Franklin over to repo the car, the meltdown will be glorious.

I don't know if "dumb old car" is a good enough reason to own three working cars when you're on the cusp of poverty and homelessness. It's not as though either one of them has to get to work every day, so driving needs are minimal compared to most of functioning society. Sure, a car is necessary when you live in a rural area, but you live within your means. If you get to choose which of your three vehicles you get to use when you go to the Get-Tar Region, something isn't adding up.

But do remember that he still gets his :tugboat: too though so we're paying for some of his shit too. Pretty much, everybody is just enabling him including the money he "earned" from his eBay sales.

So lets say he runs out of things to sell, and ends up going broke. It isn't like we live in the 1800s anymore. We have services for poor people ( Crazy how the Chandlers leaped from lower-middle class to dirt poor!)
In addition to the tugboat Chris can just go down to the welfare office and get some more free money.
Wesley Methodist probably has a food shelf for him... I don't get people saying that he will spend his days living like Oscar the Grouch..

They'll probably end up selling the Cadillac for scrap to make next month's payment, and keep lowering the price on the BMW until they sell it too. But I agree with you in that it's only a matter of time until the new car is repossessed. Even then Chris probably won't learn anything.

When people make decisions, and then bad things happen, most people think, "what did I do wrong? How could I change for the better? Was my decision a mistake or not? What should I do so that that never happens again?". Most people understand their own personal actions lead to and link with the eventual consequences to themselves. Most people understand cause and effect, and learn from their mistakes. They learn to modify their own behavior to produce the end results that they want. Chris doesn't grasp this and probably never will.

When something, anything, bad happens to him, his dull autistic mind thinks, "This is happening just because people hate me, for no reason at all! This couldn't possibly be my fault! Dang dirty trolls!" And then either Chris or Barb come up with an convenient excuse as to why anything or anybody besides themselves are to blame, internalize the excuse and actually believe it, and then they wallow in self-pity. And then they make the same mistakes again and the cycle repeats itself. There's a reason why nobody, and I mean nobody, in their families wants anything to do with either of them. The Chandlers are both broken human beings.

Services that Chris will do his best to avoid and not utilize. That is unless either Barb forces him to or he complains to Rocky (assuming she'll still be around and willing to help). And even then he'll still drag his feet.

Fatty is notoriously lazy and believes that that money should just fall into his lap. After all GAS IS EXPENSIVE!
Wesley Methodist probably has a food shelf for him...
See answer above.

Have you seen how they were living before the fire?

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how much cash Chris receives from either social security or Ebay endeavours, he's always going to spend above his limit. More money just means more frivolities, not financial security.
Just say, by some miracle he got his $20,000 for the cars, it would make sense to use that to pay off the finance on his new car and other debts. But he won't because in his mind, he'll be wasting that money because he already has the car, so why not have the car and his Lego cwcville shopping mall, and a PS4, etc.

They aren't dirt poor. Barb worked most of her life, Chris receives SSI and recently thousands of dollars in various paper and clay constructs. They live together and are familial meaning pooling their money together shouldn't be a problem and any other people would be living comfortably.

They're both retarded however. If you eat out for every meal like I'm guessing they do, that takes it's toll on your wallet. He also buys whatever he wants with little impunity or consequence. Basically, their supposed poverty extends to their shitty spending habits. Chris is a man child but Barb doesn't really have an excuse. She's a seventy year old woman and knows about bills.

If you dont get your medallions by a reasonable time get your refund, that is your right. Dont get hustled by a retard.

Coldgrip, I might say this is enlightening , but services "he will do his best to avoid?" What about if he really hits rock bottom? Are you telling me he'd rather starve to death than hit up the welfare office?
