It's very telling that I haven't seen a single person say they want to replay the new chapter, regardless of whether they loved it or hated it. Thank God save editors exist, they're probably going to cure a lot of headaches when we get a date for chapter 6.

Gameplay wise it was fun, I just didn't care for the characters and the route is too long to go back and look for the little changes. I commend people for going back and checking on the aborted WR changes if you drown in the lake without proceeding hard enough and this one gave me a mix of funny/jumpscare.

The Weird Route apparently changing your save files in Chapter 5 aside, I'm starting to think more about how Gaster might react. IIRC that he invited us to take part in this experiment so it's viewed as such. And I'm aware that there's a couple of references to the Weird Route even in the Normal Route: the Mantle 8 bit game and also Noelle referencing an 'evil route'. In a sense this feels to me like there's a point to all of this.

I think it would be interesting if Gaster isn't actually mad at us for doing the Weird Route.

The way I like to play deltarune chapter is 3 times
1- dirty run :just don't give a shit about secrets or eggs and play the chapter to have fun
2- full save: after the guides come out
3- weird route

My goal is to have three distinct runs:
1 - perfect "pacifist" route: all recruits, all eggs, all crystals, all onionsan interactions... pretty much all "good" things with any kind of payoff.
2 - speedrun route: miss as much stuff as possible without doing the weird route
3 - perfect weird route: do the weird route with as much other stuff as possible (eggs, crystals, recruits, etc.)

That monologue that Noelle gives during Chapter 5 WR is VERY enlightening

Applying her logic to the normal route, I think Noelle clings on to Susie because she hopes that Susie, being the new kid on the block, will upend her otherwise dull life. In that sense, she follows the prophecy willingly.

On the other hand, maybe Noelle doing "something crazy" is inevitable. She definitely isn't "staying quiet" or "getting good grades" throughout the events of the normal route either. Maybe in Chapter 6 her relationship with Susie will get shaken in some way (optimistic, I know), and she will feel weaker than ever, juxtaposing with the events of Snowgrave and her feelings of strength in the weird route. Then she will do SOMETHING, though I'm probably drawing connections where there aren't any.

Funny, how on one route Noelle complains about her life being stagnant, while the storyline completely stagnates on the other.

I think the number of tumblr fans saying that this chapter was actually really good and anyone who doesn't like it is actually a larper is embarrassing. I also think there is one main dividing line on whether or not your liked the chapter.

Non-raped players don't like the flowers and find at least half of them annoying. Non-raped players do not like the mew mew fight because they don't think anime dating is very funny nor do they care about the twin spirit non binary shit. Non-raped players find the suselle development rushed.

But raped players? They love it.

Dont you think that the gaster noise at the "insert chapter 7" moment is more ominous than usual? I think our mystery nigga is not quite happy with what we've done.

Unless chapter 6 somehow fixes the pacing issues the story has had so far it will be bad. I honestly wonder if the weird route is the true/good ending in some roundabout way. The weird route is what was most interesting to me about deltarune and why I even played the game at all. The main route was fine, but 5 was really annoying since I don't care for gay niggers who don't matter to the overall plot. The "pay 2 FSD to watch gay niggas talk" may be one of the most underbaked and pointless systems in a chapter. I did them all thinking that we could maybe call back to elements of the interactions, similar to the trial stuff from the blue fight, but no they are just there to talk about LGBTIAQIP+ issues.
