The word "kike" is derived from the Yiddish word kikel, meaning "circle." This is likely due to Jewish immigration through Ellis Island in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Normally, illiterate immigrants would sign their name with an "X," but Jews, believing the "X" looked too much like a cross and was too associated with Christianity, signed with an "O" instead.
