For me I dropped RDR 2 after the first bounty hunter mission. When I rode up on the guy at his campfire and realized he was just sitting still and I couldn't instantly lasso or shoot him, I knew immediately that I was about to be stuck in a shitty boring set piece with a predetermined outcome, and who could have guessed: it was exactly that. Ten minutes of a boring chase sequence (boring because it's so railroaded that there's no tension given it's all scripted) later and I pressed alt+F4 and uninstalled the piece of shit. 150 gigabytes of wasted storage space.


Fuck Rockstar.

Their last good "game" was Max Payne 3. GTA V on the PS3 was a bit fun but not as good as IV and the dlcs, then the next gen versions of V downgraded everything, added a bunch of grass and SNCA and washed out the color and ruined the car destruction physics.

I have my gripes with Max Payne 3, but it was the last one I enjoyed and can see myself replaying.

Technological advancements like graphics should be standardized and expected, not something you're expected to pay top dollar for as a feature. If GTA VI has a massive budget, that's on them.

I don't like GTA so I don't really have a particular horse to back but man I really don't want $100 games to become the industry standard.

I'm pretty sure there's a special sector of the industry patiently waiting to see how Rockstar fares in this situation, like vultures, waiting. so they can do the same and call it the "industry standard".

GTA VI will make gorillions, and everyone will want their own pie.

Here's why they have a bloated budget, they had a Cyberpunk 2077 incident when the founder left the studio and they had to redo the game in 2019/2020, he left in 2020. What was originally gonna probably release sooner and be an interesting time piece exploring the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc maybe to modern day and exploring South America became a stripped down typical GTA sequel.

The original development cycle was 2013 to 2019/2020. They had to scrap a lot. Even though they already had a base to work with on their cancelled AGENT game which may explain the time period idea they originally had (Agent was a spy game that was set in the 70s and maybe more). The assets were there. The concept could turn into something salvageable.

They redid everything it looks like and they tossed out Dan's work and ideas and started anew while having the budget balloon like a mosquito. Leaked GTA VI assets from 2019 like the military humvee proved Project Americas to be partially true, Jason Schrier did his pieces on the game and everything.

Rockstar reset it to the status quo, the leaked gameplay uses GTA V online music proving the devs are all probably just fucking faggots who worked on GTAO and now it's a lesser version of what it could have been. It is more GTA V. More modernity. It's bad enough to know about this before the game came out.

I'm not saying it'd be better given the obvious political influence in RDR2 but it sounded more convincing and worth my time.

IIRC, the special edition of GTA V had customization options and weapons locked behind the special edition too. But IIRC it was just an outfit, piece of clothing and tattoo for each character.

They haven't scrapped all of it but likely reworked it to death like cyberpunk and most games that have been delayed to dust.

They scrapped the soul and idea for sure though if the rumors of a time period piece are true. Likely gonna have their vintage car models as dlc or online content lmao. I've heard some vintage cars in online updates were actually VI assets.

Allegedly it was too big. Four protagonists and three "cities".

I'm not convinced that there isn't going to be a Guarma style twist in the game though. The fact that Jason works for a smuggler makes me think there's going to be some sort of Carribean play space.
