I thought goth and emo "subcultures" went the way of disco and grunge.

Goth subculture is the next big thing about to get cooked in the underground music scene, the last few years the darkwave/death rock/post-punk/goth rock sound has been getting popular again. It was never really gone but TikTok and insta brought it back to a wider audience. Just wait and see Grunge make a return as well.
Emo is in another revival stage, with a bunch of mid00's mallcore bands touring again (When We Were Young fest and the likes) and zoomers trying to emulate the late 90s early 00s sound with some Revivalcore.
Grunge came back, too, in the form of nu-grunge which zoomers eat up and I find really boring. Heavy shoegaze, moan-core like Deftones are popular again, and the more female centric baddie-core, which means more metal, but I'll include it here because it's just as boring.
