That early fgc is alot like the early UFC where you had a handful of skilled guys like your Severns, Shamrocks and Gracies but the rest are like Phil a bunch of tiddy bar bouncers, strip mall senseis and college alternate amateur wrestlers in other words side show novelties.
I would put DSP below the Tank Abbott tier in that analogy.

For those that don't know, Tank Abbott was basically the archetype of the "bar room brawler" back then. In video game terms, a glass cannon. If he connected, you would be unconscious, and Tank had some spectcular knockouts and to be fair a good chin. But against anyone with any type of skill/training, he would get taken down or just kept at distance and Tank had no idea what to do. He started his career 8-6 and then lost 9 of his last 11 fights, the most notable one being a specatular 43 second fight with Kimbo Slice.

I would put DSP below that tier because Tank really did have a charisma and a look about him, and if he connected you would be sent to the Shadow Realm. He just couldn't connect against anyone actually good.

I only bring this up because I wanted to talk about Tank and very rarely get a chance to do so.

So to be clear, this makes two games that Phil has dropped for being too difficult in the span of two weeks.
Just remember that next time he hypes up how hardcore he is for playing Elden Ring

I haven't seen this before and it was just recommended on my channel

Yea I guess you are right. Its just the way he bit the end of the sentence like he said something wrong.
I just heard it on bacon sweats and he definitely caught himself. No way he's going to let the paypigs know he could learn it offline and provide better game play when he can milk them for his bumbling through the non learning process.

Is Phil certain that anything is better than Guilty Gear? Strive is the most casual-friendly entry in the series. He's stuck between a rock and a hard place: the complexities of Virtua Fighter, or encountering I-No or Ramlethal in Strive.

Naturally, he's gonna take a third option and keep playing Street Fighter. It's like he's skipped every game that's come out this year except Nier (remaster of a 10-year-old game that he doesn't care about), Returnal (only finished because paypigs were holding his hand), and RE8, then complains that there's no HAWT new releases to play.
Don't forget Dizzy, Baiken or Elphelt whenever they get added as DLC. Honestly PuritanSydePhil should stay far away from GG, way too much anime T&A for him to handle.

No, he meant offline, as in get into training mode and play around with combos like his first stream.

He's never going to play a non-mobile game off the clock. He's too busy, dood.
It's actually kind of funny, because he says he needs to play it offline, realizes that's a slip up, then says "practice mode on stream". Meanwhile every other fighting game streamer likely spends time practicing offline.

My favorite part of that video by the way is where he complains that the game isn't fair because he's a noob and doesn't know how to punish launchers. No shit DSP, it's a fighting game, there's a learning curve, this isn't just noob hour where you can come in and wreck everyone from day one without any practice. I wonder how he'd feel about some noob to ST coming in and bitching about his Vega or his Deejay as being unfair because they don't know the counters to it?

And really thinking that his noob status gameplay should win every game is one of the things I find more grating about DSP. With the GDC video it's been brought up that game developers are catering to the absolutely braindead, like DSP, and on the other side of that coin you have people like DSP bitching on their scrub youtube/twitch channel every time anything in a game even slightly challenges them. This is how the games industry dies, not with a bang, but with thousands of hours of bitching and shitty gameplay.

He already gave his excuse for GGS being too complicated: there are 4 whole colors of Roman Cancel, dood!
That's the funniest part, you can get away with not mastering Roman Cancels until you get to the ladder where the above-average players play. That's what made his excuses for ducking GG dumb. He says that he'll need to spend time learning the basic mechanics of the game when he has to do the same for VF because it's unlike any other 3D fighter at its core. Then he says that GG is a complex fighting game series so he doesn't want to "waste his time" trying to learn it while VF is widely known as being the hardest 3D fighter series to get into and one of the hardest fighters in general to get into. Hell, let's list which mechanics and fundamentals in VF this pigger has failed to learn and bitched about not knowing in the 10 hours he has played the game:
  • sidestepping (called evading in VF)
  • throw breaking
  • recognizing guaranteed punishable moves
  • using fast moves to stuff and counter slow ones
  • not attacking out of a heavy disadvantage (he kept pushing buttons even when hit)
  • fuck it, let's add in launchers too aka "mid-style floaty moves" because they're "abusive stuff that you need weeks to learn"
Now it's not a 1 to 1 comparison because VF4Evo has some mechanics which were simplified in 5FS, but it has a much better tutorial, I'm going to put the screenshots in a spoiler the mechanics above as they appear in VF4Evo's tutorial and which level the game expects you to master them at. Keep in mind, Dave was level 21 when he ragequit.

Up to 1st Dan which means level 10 or lower, called "Derich levels of play" from now on

1st Dan and above, so level 11, Scrub levels of play

Derich levels of play
So to recap the situation, I did nothing wrong, okay? The "abusive stuff" that Phil "didn't have the time to master" in his 10 hours of play were something the developers expect you to learn at Derich-tier levels of play except for how to throw escape which they expect you to learn at 1st Dan aka scrub levels.
Former pro fighting game player, ladies and gentlemen.

Easily wasting 3-4 hours beforehand where he could have made his kool-aid ketchup.
C'mon you know Dave doesn't roll out of bed until 10am PST everyday. The booz...I mean allergies have been causing him issues too.

I watched part of this yesterday after it came up in my recommended. I still love watching 3-4 year ago Phil talking about Champions several times during ask the king segments.

I seriously think this is the reason he’s avoiding it. For whatever is going on in his head Phil just cannot stomach sexualized women in the games he streams anymore which is hilarious because any game from the Japanese side of development not meant strictly for elementary school children is gonna have bouncing tits. He’s locking out whole chunks of potential content and I can’t stop laughing over it because this closet case is addicted to a mobile game based on one of the most non-pornographic homoerotic forms of entertainment from the last two centuries.

Blowing off both feet with one hand while honking his dong with the other. What an absolute shambles of a man.

By the way, @Pretty Boy Extremism , you know the game pretty well. From the matches you've seen does it look like DSP is doing what he does in every fighting game and pretty much just constantly mashing heavy attacks? Not sure why anyone would think primarily heavy attacks are the way to go when they're easily punished and more importantly are easy to tack on to lighter attacks. I wonder if DSP even understands the concept of "confirming" combos and specials, and if he does I wonder if it's in the same way he "understands" frame data.

He's a total pussy IRL, so it wouldn't be remotely the same.
Considering Kat's fucked-up childhood and many issues, and Phil's cushy life and many issues, and listening to both of them talk, I don't think either would be dominant. Phil controls the money, Kat controls everything else (which is what, mainly what dinner is?), and they mostly stay in separate rooms and drink or play games.

Yeah that's exactly what he does. I've talked about this after every VF stream but he has this weird idea of how 3D fighting games are "properly played" where in this pigger's head "good fundamentals" somehow involve finding powerful yet slow single hits rather than mostly using quick, safe moves, which are a relatively low risk way to set up your slower, strong moves and launchers. If you want an even bigger frame of reference you can look at his Tekken TIHYDPs. In both Tag 2 and 7 he showcases this complete fundamental misunderstanding of how 3D fighters are played. Whenever he gets above the Derich ranks and graduates to levels of play where people at least grasp the most basic mechanics of the game he gets demolished and then accuses the opponents of using scrubby easily abused shit that takes no skill. I mean just think about it for a second, imagine you're playing some dude and you notice that he always pushes buttons when he's at a heavy disadvantage, wouldn't you just throw out a launcher every single time to just get this scrub outta here ASAP and hopefully get matched with someone who is actually around your level of skill? I sure as shit would and whenever Phil is on the receiving end of that beating he thinks that the other player is just spamming that move randomly without thinking about it, he doesn't recognize that he's more predictable than the sunrise and sunset.

They are functionally roommates, which is fine if that’s what they both want (and I think that’s the case at least for Kat because fuck have you looked/listened to Phil in the last decade?) but it ceases to be fine when Phil wants to crow about how grown up and mature he is for having a family when in reality he has a weirdo boarder who maybe occasionally chips in for gas and makes him take out the used litter for her cat.

Phil's already locked out 95% of games due to his own ineptitude and the fact that he cannot stomach sexualized women. It would be easier to list what games he can play without being an absolute spastic.

Doesn't he have both one of those old Sega Genesis with the built in games and a Nintendo?

Why doesn't "The King of Retro" play some more old-school games? Sonic and Knuckles? Mario? Double Dragon? Street of Rage?

Why doesn't he replay ANY of his "Top 10" games of the last 3-5 years. God of War IV? The Witcher 3? Uncharteed?

Oh wait, he's convinced himself he needs the "hot new releases."

And that's why him calling people beating him with basic shit scrubs always makes me laugh, top irony and he doesn't even realize how hard he's projecting.

When you say:
"The only reason they're beating me is because they're using cheap tactics."
Your next logical follow up question should be:
"How can I beat those cheap tactics?"
But for Phil, there's no learning flow to games, if he doesn't understand it day 1 or someone doesn't hold his hand and teach him then he's lost, and that's why he'll be an eternal scrub at everything he plays. I promise you the only reason he got good at ST was because of Howard and Rambo teaching him shit and holding his hand.
