I can never seem to find a non-biased source about which gender is at a disadvantage in the classroom. The ones that say that girls are generally have the conclusion along the lines of "boys are either dominant troublemakers or know-it-all show offs, which keeps the teacher's attention away from the girls." The ones that say the boys are at a disadvantage say things like "boys are assumed to be troublemakers and always interpreted to be the perpetrator of classroom problems, which messes with their self esteem."
I mean, generally boys are punished more in classrooms and more severely, and that continues all the way to high school level. As a whole, I've seen several people claim that boys learn differently than girls and that current educational systems are designed to cater to the latter. But who knows with how biased all these studies are.
