One of the things that’s always irked me the most about Dark is his constant affirmations that his life is incredibly physically and mentally exhausting. Every day, he has to remind you he’s constantly doing adult things yet never explicitly mentions what those things are. Vague mentions of having to make a meal in-between streams, take care of... things, talk to his wife, spray his cat with water, and maybe rearrange a thing or two in the house.
This fat loser basically describes mundane activities that any normal person performs on a daily basis, who wouldn’t find the need to ever mention doing such things because they’re so basic.
I assume the constant reinforcement of “adult Phil doing adult things” is for two reasons: one to appear in front of his audience of wheelchairs as an extremely busy guy who doesn’t have the time to do anything outside of the very long hours of streaming he dedicates daily to improve anything related to the stream; and two to convince himself that he has a “hard” life and is indeed productive throughout the day.
I think Phil has become unable to distinguish between his lies and reality. He has become so accustomed to this cognitive dissonance mechanism that he uses to absolve himself of any fault that he actually believes the nonsense that he spouts.
I mean, think about this for a second: what adult man would ever take the time to show off to 25k people on Twitter that making a disgusting pasta sauce is a difficult task that’s worth bragging about? I’m 4 years younger than Dark and I never act like what I do during the day is difficult or worthy of attention. His life has become so pathetically insulated and non-eventful, making sauce is the equivalent of competing in a triathlon. The chronicling of DSP’s day-to-day activities is one the most depressing trainwrecks I’ve ever witnessed.
