Honestly I think :autism: has NEVER crossed his mind, for whatever reason (maybe he thinks all :autism: is Rain Man), and I don't think I've seen evidence of anyone bringing up the possibility to him. Not even ass burgers. I'm surprised nobody asked him directly that i can see. Inquiring minds want to know!

Hell, I was diagnosed quite by accident when the doctor was looking for something else, and I was in my 30s--it's not something on everybody's mind except maybe some self-diagnosing tumblrites of which Dobson surely isn't.

It's a pet-theory with many Kiwis that he's :autistic: but I think he's just a manchild with an inflated ego, absolutely no coping mechanisms due to being mollycuddled all his life and a massive entitlement complex.

In terms of relationships, I think Dobson is a weird kind of emotional leech and abuser. Not in that he'd ever intentionally harm, let alone hit, his significant other, but seeing how petty and miserable this dunce is, I assume that he drags down the people around him merely by being in their presence too long.

From the few things we know about Dobby and his gf, we know that his gf had to constantly make sure to accomodate Dobson's wishes. For instance, he dislikes being out after dark, it seems, so his gf just kind of dealt with that by not going out with him after dark, even when they were visiting her family at Hanukkah. She had to support him when he was home "working on his comics by playing vidya" while she was out earning money.

So, in short, the kind of guy that passively reduces the quality of life of his mate due to his inconsiderate and egoistic behaviour.

See I used to think the same thing, it's just that his complete and total inability for self-reflection and realization of when he's shooting himself in the foot seems to go beyond anything explainable by just "he's a dumbass". He is so lacking in self-awareness that I think being wired wrong is the only plausible explanation.

A common misconception is that the infamous Hanukkah-Incident caused the end, but that's actually not true. I fear that the exact details are unknown, since Dobby might have had enough common sense to not write a shitton of blogs about it or deleting them at some point down the line - at least I am unaware of such blogs.
Maybe someone else can shed some light, it would be interesting to see how Dobby handled the breakup emotionally.

I dunno about the breakup itself but the aftermath is actually kind of telling. Not once in all the years since have I seen any evidence that he misses her, thinks about her, or wonders about her. Certainly not in the years we've been following him. There is every indication that in his entire life, she was the only person outside of his parents to show him any affection, kindness, or share in his life... and there's every indication that he probably barely even remembers her, and certainly doesn't think about her. My evidence would be that when someone else is feeling lonely or wishing they were in a relationship, he never seems to pull his "Yeah me too" that he does on other subjects like, oh, say, trauma?

Dobson is so lacking in warm human emotion that the nameless troll who spritzed him in the face is a more significant figure to him than the woman he shared several years of his life with.

Shen's a weird case but I don't think he's a cow.. yet. He could very easily become one, though.

I'm not sure how old he is but he's been on my radar for a few years and has been going through that stage of artistic development in the last year or two where he realizes that if he makes dumb pandering stuff he'll get a lot more exposure than if he draws the comics he actually wants to draw. He's not taking this fact well and had a major meltdown over it a few months ago that resulted in him quitting social media for a bit, but now he's back and apparently playing up the 'I'm a depressed artist!' shtick Dobson style. Unlike Dob though he has a simple, distinct style and has made genuinely funny comics before, so I'd love to see him get any of the sort of opportunities Dob has gotten and squandered because I think he'd be able to pull out of the Dobson Death Spiral before it's too late.

A mediocre webcomics thread would be amazing, especially if it includes webcomics that start and then burn out in a drama fireball within a week. There've been a couple of really funny ones in the last few years that don't really warrant a thread on their own.
