That's because Spoony is a likeable/funny person that has unfortunately lost his fucking mind. Dobbie is just unlikable because he's rotten to the core and always has been.

Then this forced positive thinking shit as shown in the bicycle comic, is especially harmful. It's okay to be angry and frustrated. In the comic it came across as extremly privileged thinking, and cucked to the extreme. And the likelihood that the bike will end up in a pond, river or in pieces in the next trash container is more likely than someone being happier with it.

I don't think that making yourself the cuck of life is going to help with your depressions. And trying to defend such hacks as Dobson, who would stab you in the back, the moment they see a chance, even less.

After Shen posted that asinine comic and went on his "I will defend anyone that is being harassed" tirade, the only thing left to do is ask him if harassing someone is okay when the enjoyment from the harassing is bigger than the loss of quality of life of the harassed person.

Cause trolling the shit out of idiots on Twitter results in copious amounts of salt and butthurt that can fuel places like the Internet Hate Machine or KF for weeks.

And out of all artists he feels the need to defend, Shen picks Dobbo, Sophie and Tim Buckley (who cares about Tim and Ctrl+Del anymore.). Dobbo would throw Shen under a bus, the chance he gets to appeal to his SJW-overlords, and Sophie is a known bully and awful person. And basically no one gives a shit about Tim.

My experience is, that there is a reason when a person on the internet draws the collective ill will of a huge group of persons. Or there is a reason when a person is always in the center of drama. And this reason is in most cases: The person is a drama whore, and you are better off grabbing your popcorn and watching the show.

Well, yes. Everyone has one or several skeletons in the closet. I think, it depends on how the person behaves. An artist, who is known as a cutesy artist, may love to draw some really kinky stuff. I know of children's books illustrators, who would love to draw some porn for a turn. But I believe this does not weigh as heavy as trying to be the all moral superior being, while lusting not so secretly after teenage lesbians. And loving to draw lewd stuff involving adults certainly does not weigh as heavy as having an unhealthy obsession with the genitals of children, while also trying to make themselves acting morally superior.

It always boils down to your own hypocrisy about something.

And you can bet as soon as Shen says or does something that Dobson's SJW-overlords do not approve of, Dobson is the first one to jump at Shen's throat. Dobson is just this morally bankrupt and devoid of any loyalty. Maybe he even believes loyalty is a Nazi-Thing.
 
I think it's telling that dibson's rants about games and problems they have are purely his for his own ego now that a real problem came up; the new starwars battlefront and microtransactions.
 
Dobson expects loyalty from the disloyal without ever being loyal himself.

I havent seen anything from Buckley in a long time. To be fair I havent looked either, but I used to see him getting shit on constantly and now I don't see people posting anything new about him so I figured he either quit or calmed down. I just see Loss jokes now, which like you said are still pretty great and will probably continue its longtime role as ones of the holy grails of shitty webcomics for eternity.

The Buckley mentions made me curious, so I went and checked on what CAD looks like now. The comic itself is... kinda decent? Bland, but man, is it better than what came before.

For those who need a quick primer on Tim Buckley:
Tim Buckley makes Ctrl+Alt+Del, a "gamer comic". The comic itself was bad-to-bland wackyzany monkey-cheese humor, the art was really terrible in that special "early 2000s webcomic" way, but Tim Buckley himself was the major star of the show. He was by all accounts a grade-A douche, and it was largely Buckley himself, and not just his work-product that elevated CAD to internet mockery status. Key moments involve hiding behind the CAD booth playing x-box until the autograph line had gotten long enough for him to emerge and charging to sign things, and threatening legal action against someone who used CAD fan art in a school project. There should be a bunch of this stuff on the internet if you care to look. But back to the compare and contrast.

Like Dobson and his fillbucket, Buckley once bragged that he copy and pasted CAD, using pre-drawn 'pieces' and assembling them for the comics. He was rightfully mocked because this was the result: Tons of words, slavish use of 4 panels, and the Notorious B^U face.

But this is what happens when you you actually sit back and think "Hey, maybe everyone saying my art is shit could have a point, and I should work on getting better" instead of thinking your art is perfect and anyone who says otherwise is just a troll. You actually get better.

Something that i find fascinating about "Loss" is that as a story, it's actually structurally sound and could be a wonderful piece of fiction...if it was in any comic that wasn't Ctrl Alt Del. Hell, i bet Penny Arcade could do way better with the idea. The biggest problem is that CAD was always meant to be a comedy comic and suddenly going for a super dramatic piece about stillbirth is outright lunacy. You're flat out killing a child, one that hasn't even had a chance to live yet, so you need to more or less "earn" it, and Buckley didn't. Plus the dialogue free format makes it way too easier to tear the shit out of.

Yeah, Loss.jpg itself isn't bad, except for the stiff hoverhands & jpeg artifact tear in the 4th panel. Its everything surrounding the comic that had made it (and Buckley) a source of internet mockery for almost a decade. It wasn't just the drama injection into a really low-brow monkey-cheese gaming comic. It was the "miscarriage is often harder on the woman" blog post that accompanied it. it was the fact that after a couple of follow up comics, it was never mentioned again.

Anyway, time to move past and heal. Let's get back to Dobson and his hate for everything, including himself.

Buckley apparently got married and had a kid, which seems to have calmed down some of his douchier tendencies. Yet another thing he's got going for him over Dobbo.
