I'm under no illusion that we're the majority of the fanbase, but I had no idea they even existed outside of this random New Zealand Agribusiness Forum thread. i think these people are either children or 18-20something adults that still think like children. it's easy to get into the mindset that specific things can only be enjoyed by specific people, and that line of thinking is only reinforced when a majority of its fans consist of people of certain demographics. this is why a lot of thread shitters on 4chan barge in to scream that deltarune is tranny shit, because they mainly see those kinds of people talk about it online. on 4chan, nobody knows you're a cub-loving MtF unless you link your youtube channel in which case they feel more justified in thinking anyone that likes the game is a tranny.
I like that the perception people have about Kris changes depending on where you look. If you look at Kiwifarms or 4Chan, people say Kris is male. If you look at Japanese people drawing Kris, a lot of them think he is male, but a lot also think he could be female. If you look at primarily English-speaking Twitteroids, they say Kris is nonbinary and that's that! and that's the one thing I don't think is alright because they're so adamant about it and refuse to even entertain the idea that there's a possibility that doesn't line up with their interpretation of Kris. I think Toby doesn't really give a fuck what people think Kris or Frisk or Chara is supposed to be, and just says "they" because it's not important enough for him to put his foot down about, but it's a little unfair that he doesn't just come out and say that, if that's the case. I understand he doesn't want to step on any landmines like the YIIK guy or Hussie, but people are way too vicious about this topic. It's not important, but people have tricked themselves into seeing themselves in every protagonist they have direct control over, which is why they freak the fuck out about this stuff. Going back to YIIK, it reminds me of the people that thought Alex was the writer's self insert. They only thought that because Alex is a guy that says a lot of stupid shit they don't agree with, but who in their right mind sees shit like this and thinks "the author is writing from personal experience as the kind of guy that says this sort of stuff"?

Well I'm super fucking glad that I have that instead of anemia! Still Deltarune remains the one of the very, very few media that is able to achieve that with consistency. I pray that it will able to handle its landing and have a satisfying conclusion, even as I mentally prepare for the despair.
One of the best parts of Noelle's characterization is how incredibly layered it is, it feels like an actual person with all the seemingly contradictory thoughts, musings, urges, until it turns out the seemingly perfect basic bitch student is actually a raging chud a single bad day away from shooting up the school. It is "realistic" in the worst possible way, becoming entirely believable.
Dess dying in a "suicide" would neatly explain why Noelle is so mentally broken and attracted to the idea and why Asgore could be consumed with the obsession of proving it wrong. The kind of obsession with a closed investigation that can really drive a wife away while endearing you to the parents of the dead girl
Maybe she was the one who peered too deep into the void and realized its all a video game/simulation/loop or something equally as lovecraftian about the world and how she MUST be a Noelle and do Noelle things, not because she is just a child in school, powerless to act, but its literally a law of the universe and she is an NPC in it. This fits into the pattern of various creatures in the game craving freedom, the biggest meta-theme of the game. She is willing to become the destroying angel of prophecy, willing to do just about anything to escape the matrix and the machinations of the glitch man who talks in hands. That's Kris is worried about she accidentally spilling something in that one famous weird route scene. She and Kris had a plan or pact since childhood, possibly one including Dess and Asriel about how to break free and the Knight is working on it.
Eh, that's still healthier than random chalk. And it works to heal the party, so it can't be that bad. She was very bad in Chapter 1, but less so in the later ones. The moss-eating scenes is a meme and it doesn't count.
