Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

They should bring back Ganon's red blood in the demake (they never will).
It’d be cool but I have no idea if they’ll really do blood. If they do the exact same scene again, maybe it’ll be black like the blood on Link in Breath of the Wild when he’s at Fort Hateno. I recently played through the Bottom of the Well and have doubts that they’ll have blood on the floors and walls in the remake, especially since they are going for a more photorealistic look. OoT N64 was lofi enough to get away with it but probably not now without bumping up to a T (or whatever CERO rates things in Japan).
They probably wont even add in hidden skills to decrease the dissonance to TP.
Not only would adding in TP combat (and beefing the standard enemies with more attacks/armored variants etc.) improve OOT's gameplay,
I expect the combat to be different than what it was on N64 (if my thoughts of this being a full remake rather than a graphics update is correct). If it’s left as is then I don’t see a point to porting TP’s skills. Even in TP, they didn’t really add anything to the game beyond being flashy. The tweaks need to come from enemies design and interactions more than anything.

if you're gonna remake a game, especially like FF7, why not try to make it work better with the games surrounding it? Maybe have hidden shit where skullkid mentions the giants from Majora, a secret ending if you die against Ganon which leads into the downfall timeline (as silly as the timeline branch is imo).
I think that they will try to move away from the timeline that they established with WW and TP and either make the links to the other games more ambiguous (like BotW) or develop a canon that reworks the continuity. Don’t expect them to try to retrofit the Gamecube Zelda games into OoT.

Like they'll add in cooking and stamina and weapon breaking for retard reasons, maybe some extra story bits, but ultimately nothing truly interesting in the context of the larger narrative that OOT is clearly apart of.
Unless they expand the scope of the game to be as large as BotW, I don’t see [field] cooking being a part of the game. Stamina will probably return since it’s practically a staple at this point (It’s been over 15 years since Skyward Sword) but the weapon mechanics from BotW I don’t think will carry over since the conceit of the mechanic was tied to the setting of that game. If they do durability again, it will likely be in a different form.

In one way or another OOT leads into WW, Majora, ALTTP, and TP depending on the outcome, they should play into that, but I fear goytendo has lost that creative spark.
I gotta disagree here. I don’t see what’s “creative” about fanwanking, which is what you’re essentially asking for here.

I remember someone joking that they'd connect OOT to the nuZelda games by turning Rauru into furfag Rauru. The Horror.

Connecting games that are confirmed to be connected more intelligently is "fanwank"? Okay nigger, just remember that when you play BOTW/TOTK and get Link's hat from Awakening, or Midna's helmet from TP, or Majora's Mask to wear. Talk about fanwank...

The most likely route will be that Rauru is named after King Rauru (if they bother going into backstory with him at all, which they shouldn’t).

Yes, fanwanking. If they are going to bother with a remake, just throw the “continuity” in the trash and restart. The split timeline was a mistake. To begin with, OoT was supposed to linearly connect to ALttP, LoZ, and LoZ2, not be a weird launch point for “what if” timelines.

Edit: To add on to this thought, I would actually like it if Link doesn’t “go back” to his childhood at the end of OoT and just lives on from that point. I’ve always kind of thought that it was a little pointless to do all he did as an adult just for Zelda (presumably) to hit the reset button.

See, this is exactly my point. Can't there be a middle-ground? Can't we have open world exploration but with more traditional Zelda elements?

People complained that Skyward Sword was restrictive and there was virtually no exploration, so Nintendo with Breath of the Wild gave you massive exploration but cut the Zelda elements that people had no problem with
someone was thinking along the same lines:

if my thoughts of this being a full remake rather than a graphics update is correct
Everybody has all these expectations for the remake and I'm telling you: it's just going to be the same old game with a new coat of paint. Look at the Star Fox remake, that's what you're going to get with Zelda

I guess the Japanese saw Metal Gear Solid Delta and said 'We'll have us some of that'

I’ve always kind of thought that it was a little pointless to do all he did as an adult just for Zelda (presumably) to hit the reset button.
Given how it resulted in Link now having an adult's experiences and trauma now as a kid, and for Zelda's future to be doomed because of it, I still consider OOT's incarnation of Zelda to be one of the most foolish and short-sighted incarnations of the character, even if she did quite a lot of cool stuff as Sheik.

Likely it just couldn't be done till Ganondorf was defeated, it doesn't undo that timeline branch, so he had to be beaten there before she could send him back and have him go to the king and do the "ARRESST HIM" bit, this neatly beats Ganondorf in both times, however it had unforseen consequences, Time travel likely just wasn't something Zelda could wrap her head around, but her thought process is sound "he's beaten in my time, now he can be beaten in the past".

She was ten. No shit she was foolish and shortsighted
I hope this means we'll get a Majora's Mask remake eventually.
It's pretty much guaranteed. I'd actually be more onboard for that one because Nintendo fucked it up when they did the 3DS remake (Ocarina's 3DS remake, by contrast, was almost perfect)

What makes you think they won't just make it any worse? Either play the original or the 3ds version with the fan patch that fixes the problems.

Trauma center, last story, pandora's tower, xenoblade, sonic colors, muramasa, pokepark and battle revolution, rayman, sin and punishment, shadow's tale, fortune street, endless ocean, final fantasy, fire emblem, tatsunoko vs crapcom, fatal frame, dragon quest, monster hunter, zack and wiki, rune factory, captain rainbow, cursed mountain, draw to life.

There were a lot of exclusives that weren't just waggle dogshit but you niggers don't play videogames, just like /v/tards.
The majority of these are not first party games. We were comparing the libraries because I said I think the first party Wii U lineup is better than the one on Wii.
the library of first party titles was pretty good. I'd argue the first party output was better than the Wii based on the Zelda remakes, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Mario Kart 8, BOTW and Pikmin 3 alone.
Also reading the lineup you posted, things like Pokepark and Drawn to Life, I'm guessing you're in your 20s or younger and grew up with the Wii. Whatever system you grew up with is always going to be goated in your head because you grew up with it. I think the Genesis/SNES era blows the absolute shit out of everything that came after, but that's because I played those games when I was 10.

But she was 17 when she decided that Link should “regain his lost time” and sent him back in time for some reason. It makes no sense especially when you consider that her childhood was nothing but running and gunning after the castle fell. All Link had to do was sit in the hyperbolic time chamber for a while.

It's pretty much guaranteed.
I disagree. People thought Metroid Prime 2 was a guarantee after the first game was redone but that didn’t happen.

You'd think so, but they had all the assets from the LA remake and never did Oracles. See speculation below,
I disagree. People thought Metroid Prime 2 was a guarantee after the first game was redone but that didn’t happen.
Then we found out the only reason Prime got the remake was for the new staff at Retro get the "feel" for the series. You almost have to wonder if the LA remake was for Grezzo to get the assets and then make their own spin on a new game later.

What makes you think they won't just make it any worse?
If they do then I just won't buy it, same as I didn't buy the 3DS version because I heard and saw they fucked it up massively
Either play the original
I have
It makes no sense
It makes perfect sense. If you had seven years of your life where nothing happened, you accomplished nothing and life passed you by while everybody else grew up and had experiences, wouldn't you want to get that time back?
especially when you consider that her childhood was nothing but running and gunning after the castle fell.
And you think it strange that she'd want a childhood where that didn't happen?
People thought Metroid Prime 2 was a guarantee after the first game was redone but that didn’t happen.
It hasn't happened yet. Nintendo are creatively bankrupt and probably want to restore some goodwill after Prime 4 was such a disappointment. I'd expect them to remake Prime 2 and 3 somewhere down the line, especially 3

Yes, I know Prime 2's coming to Switch Online

They haven't done Oracles yet. Again, Nintendo are creatively bankrupt. Expect them to get to it down the line.

That's not uncommon in the game industry. I think the Crash Bandicoot remakes were done so that the same studio both had the assets and judged the marketplace for their own in-house developed sequel

No of course not! Kidding lol. Although props to the actress that played her in the animated cd-i games, Bonnie Jean Wilbur. There was an interview with her a few years ago. She was still well informed on Zelda some 30 years later because she occasionally gets autograph requests, however she said she has never seen the finished product. She said she watched her niece playing Breath of the Wild one day and she found it to be so extraordinary and lovely. (She said she would like to play Zelda again. If Illumination were smart she could make a cameo in the upcoming film!)

She and Link's actor recently returned for a game in the style of cd-i games (she even does her famous "GOOD!" line). The fact that they both know and appreciate the memes and the YTP phenomenon (at least Link's actor Jeffrey Rath confirmed he does) is honestly touching, especially because there are actors who you just know would find it abhorrent and beneath them *cough*Schemmel/Baker/Rannells*cough*

The new Zelda game looks cute. But there is a ton of discourse over her. Something about her weapon........because of course.
Sort of a semi-update to this. Someone got to do a phone interview with Bonnie last year. She still sounds exactly like she did 30 years ago as Zelda.

I still think it would be actually very sweet if she and Jeffrey Rath had cameos in the live action film, as villagers or something, along with the two actors that played them in the cartoon. It would be a nice nod to the games (much as Nintendo likes to forget it exists) but I know they'd never go to such lengths to do this.

I heard that CD-i inspired game wound up not being very good and missed a lot of the weird charm the games have.

And if anyone deserves a cameo in the movie, it's Jonathan Potts.

Zelda but actaully for Modern Audience. Ganondorf Goldstein wants to pimpout Zelda, Link & Midna don't want that to happen

I always assumed it was supposed to be a Wii U gamepad, so IT'S LIKE YOU'RE REALLY THERE.
The gamepad functionality being axed from the wii U version when the game was clearly made for the gamepad to the point the menu for items is laid out similarly to a wii U gamepad always bothered me ever since release IMO

This reminds me of a lot of the more out there BOTW concept art that didn't end up as the final game's look.

This was gonna be a botw character I apparently never saw this unused shit till now lmao

Dude looks like a mother/earthbound enemy mixed with some shit out of windwaker and I can tell immediately how he'd show up given he was originally supposed to be the horse god before what we got with "ambiguous demonic ghost of malon" in the final game.

Dude imagine you're gonna meet another obese great fairy and it's instead just a ripped horse man lmao
