I'm surprised at how well my formerly outdoor cat has taken to a harness and lead. She didn't roam far before anyway, she just stayed in the garden (spayed females don't range far), but now there's a building site in the area that I don't want her climbing on, she quite likes walkies around the garden and street on her lead.
I've seen some cats with a sort of chicken wire run thing - ironically, I think it's a repurposed aviary - that they can climb up inside and enjoy fresh air without bothering the wild animals or hurting themselves.

Mass migration has done far more ecological damage than cats existing does.
To expand on this stream of thought, cats and dogs are becoming convenient scapegoats. It’s all a ruse to avoid addressing what actually is leading to the birdocaust: mass migration and sudden population growth.

Anyone whose seen their area suddenly getting an influx of people has witnessed housing development companies tearing down entire swamps and forests to make room for the doctors and engineers being brought over.

Now, tell me, where do birds live?

In the very same trees which are being chopped down to house a million refugees. Do you know what happens when you take away an animal’s habitat? Their encounters with humans increase exponentially. Polar bear on human attacks are on the rise at the same time as more houses are being built closer to their territory. Coyote on dog violence also increases when you chop down the habitats of their actual prey.

And thus, when you take away a bird’s natural habitat their encounters with cats increase. Many of them don’t have built in escape routes to avoid interacting with cats in the first place.

The reason LibShits don’t embrace eco-fascism is because it would require admitting that mass importing the entire third world is bad for the environment.

The local dogs are a bit bemused, especially since she's a formerly feral thug bastard of a moggy, so I have to pull her back so she doesn't swipe at them, but they seem to like her. Once she's been introduced to them, she tolerates them quite well. She just sits there about a foot away from them or on the other side of the fence from them and seems pretty content to hang out as long as they don't get in her space.

Cats ultimately lead happier lives and are better developed as beings if they're outdoors, because they're meant to be outdoors, but that doesn't change the fact that their lifespans will be cut and alot of outdoor cats will never reach old age. It's heartbreaking owning a cat. Either you trap them, or you let them go out and be happy with a high risk of premature death.
bro this guy above just said what the solution is. I also take my cat on walks and he loves them. most cats that want to go outside can be trained to do this. the chicken wire thing you're talking about is called a "catio" btw.

Well I’ve got great news for you cause outdoor cats being happier than indoor cats is bs. It’s a statistic based on the idea of keeping a cat indoors and doing absolutely nothing with it, when tested with cats who were regularly played with and engaged with, it was found the happiness levels were actually equal. Even then, if you must, as someone else mentioned there are cat harnesses.
Nigger if you are poisoning cats, I hope someone teaches you a real good lesson. One you wont forget.
He’s not, it’s bait. He saw how tense the conversation got and just wants to stir trouble, just ignore him, he’s only here to upset you.

I love seeing dogs and cats get along, even if it’s at a distance.

I think the dogs would like to be friends - the neighbour's puppy snuffles its nose under the fence and tries to sniff her, but she smacks at it whenever the nose comes into her territory and I have to pull her back. The other neighbour's dog saw her and went WOOF, and she shouted a horrible GURGLE noise in reply, and after that they seemed to have a mutual respect and understanding. That thing makes sounds I've never heard come out of a cat (or any earthly beast) so I can understand the dog being a bit wary.

Dogs and cats communicate differently… But similarly in some ways. Cats see aggressive sniffing as a sign of aggression, whilst dogs see it as friendly curiosity. They both see licking as affectionate luckily, so they can usually get along with that.

Cats make weird ass noises, my favorite is the “Nooo no no no no…” one they make when upset

Goddamn got a stray cat that has been wandering around and lucky too because I guess she is unseated and in heat and uhh…holy shit I have never seen that in person before.

The fuck did evolution do to cats because it seems some kind of possessed, walking weird and constantly meowing even at the dead of night. I guess they like to ‘excrete’ lots too, get their stench all over everything and it definitely knows what a human male is. For some goddamn reason

Spay cats plz. That shit looks uncomfortable

Cats aren't exempt from being considered nuisance animals, and if you have one in your area, it should get reported to animals control, they'll come and capture it and take it off to get fixed.

The “billions and billions” number was extrapolated from a minuscule amount of research looking at the hunting habits of a handful of outdoor cats for like a month in one English village. There are roughly 10 to 20 billion individual birds in all of North America. If domestic cats kill 3.7 billion birds annually, then apparently they can decimate an entire continent’s population worth of them every couple of years. By some miracle birds haven’t gone completely extinct despite this.

This headline gets so much traction partly because many birders are, for whatever reason, a bunch of massive spergs. Christian Cooper of “Central Park Karen” infamy is a good example of how entitled these retards feel to harass random pet owners (not even dogs are not safe from the birdstapo).

I understand why, in New Zealand, where they have lots of flightless birds that really can't get away from cats, why people would be upset about large feral cat populations. I can't understand it in North America or Europe though. Around here, cats primary prey are rabbits, rodents, and the occasional, very unlucky, bird. Rodents are a nuisance and cats keep them under control, anyone who doesn't understand the value in that is fucking retarded.

I live in the city. All I see are pigeons, sparrows,, crows and starlings in abundance. I don't think the cats are decimating too many rare birds here. Plus anywhere densely populated is going to have a rodent problem because garbage looks so delicious to them.

I keep my cats indoors. One is a door dasher so I have to be careful. The other just likes to stand in the doorway and chatter with neighborhood cats. But he won't venture outside.

One of my cats just caught three mice three days in a row. Cats make really good pest control.

Cats do not like being in heat
Cats do not like hunting
Cats like staying inside and sleeping. The thing is us humans understand that if we repeatedly do something, that means we want to do it. For cats, it’s not that, they feel an obligation/responsibility to do it. If a cat had his way, he’d just sleep and eat all day.

When you’re a cat owner it’s important to distinguish between what they want to do and what they feel like they have to do.
