Some homeless dude called the ambulance at the train station yesterday for "chest pain." Bullshit artists know this will get them a bed. He signed out AMA at 3am because they wouldn't give him pain meds.
I drove myself to the ER a few years back (lol fuck paying for an ambulance ride -- I'm a responsible White person and have insurance, so healthcare is more expensive for me than it is for homeless people

) with heart palpitations and suspicious irregular rhythm, told them I was short of breath, described the rest of the symptoms, etc. They wired me up to an EKG, saw the irregular beat, spotted a previously-unnoticed murmur, ignored me for 5 hours, then the doc finally came in and said "yup, that'll happen sometimes, here's some aspirin, go on home." Oh and they made sure to collect my fucking $200 copay up front, of course.
My regular doctor heard about this on the next business day, shook his head, took some x-rays and did his own checks, and put me on an ACE inhibitor. No more palpitations and BP's under control now, and very few instances of irregular heartbeat ever since. He told me not to bother with the ER with heart concerns unless I was too weak to drive myself there.
I know it's not your fault, but fuck these homeless cunts for convincing MDs and NPs that practically nobody's actually having any heart problems worth treating anymore at an ER.
