Yeah I mean I guess from a realpolitik perspective. I’ve always hoped that the people of Iran could throw off the shackles of an unpopular theocratic government.

the damage bill clinton did in the 90s is unimaginable, and he gets away with the worst part of his reputation being that he fucked a whore under the desk of the oval office. it's despicable. trump is now cleaning up those messes, one by one. it would be very interesting to see the US and Russia form a military alliance if NATO ever collapsed. we as two similar nations have more to gain from helping each other than we ever would fighting one another, now that russia is not trying to force commie tardation on the world.

i will point out though, the russians fomented all the rogue communist nations that they have to tardwrangle today. they wanted these nations to exist, and to be thorns in our side, they just didn't predict that they would also mutate their own forms of communism and become a thorn in russia's side.

Trump knows how unpopular he is becoming (at this point the MAGA momentum is dead and most of his voters are only doing it by fear of a Democratic takeover) and how a middle eastern quagmire could cost the midterms, so he is trying to avoid boots on the ground and retarded nationbuilding, and so by trying to make the regime implode or at the very least submit to America he avoids the worse reputation damage, and if it fails it's forgotten in a few months instead of the legacy Iraq and Afghanistan have domestically.

the other possibility wonked was they figured that the US would have gotten them to last-minute open their airspace as the US/Israel went full carpet bomb everything if they went in. Instead the US and Israel were doing surgical strikes on IRGC sites so instead of looking responsive and lethal, they look insane dangerous and violently retarded.
