There are highschool transcripts from private school they attend and even in absence of that, standardised testing can substitute for diploma credentials in the United States, as I have been told by Americans who do micro-schooling.

I think LOLCOW of the Year is such a great idea, that I want it to be the best it can be.

To not defend the concept when it appears to being needlessly messed with, doesn't sit right with me.

Fortunately, children are generally resilient and capable of throwing off their parent's ideology (for good or ill). This is not to say that poor parents are not an obstacle to a successful life, but rather than outgrowth of parental constraints is a part of normal development on the way to independence. I would be more worried if their self-sufficiency were actively handicapped or sabotaged by the kind of 'parentification' evinced by the KCHCSS transcripts where the son was referenced in a supervisory role of parental drug use.

Lolcows especially seem to have rebellious children--Destiny is one that many would know, but there are others--so I have some hope, but in the end we have to watch and see.

Mum and Dad Rekieta seemed to have at least given Nick the opportunity to become independent by sending him to uni and law school, so hopefully the rest will also get that chance and be able to stand or fall on their own merits.

What I am telling you is that it’s not a harmless or wise course for the vast majority of people, especially kids or young adults whose brains are still developing. Disclosing traumatic experiences to random people with whom they have no established bond of trust is the fastest way for such a person to aggravate the existing trauma.

What's the alternative then? Getting college admission applications rejected because they were home schooled unless they have amazing SAT scores? And not disclose a history that any reasonably good background checker can uncover regardless given Nick is a public figure? If they play to the sympathetic tendencies of liberals towards disadvantaged people and that makes the difference for entrance into a good college then it makes that much easier for them to avoid or minimize contact with Nick for the rest of their lives. Seems like that'd be a good thing... Probably the only possible advantage because after college most employers won't give a shit about hardships.
Not to mention given the mid law school Nick went to, those kids probably aren't on track towards getting outstanding test scores so I don't see the advantage of keeping quiet about it on an application which while possibly not confidential isn't public information without request.
