At this point is it even worth putting forward a candidate against Trump? They fucked the entire country so bad that there is no way even blue voters would believe the results if they rigged it again. I think they assumed that Biden would be able to last two terms before taking him out behind the barn. I guess he had one of his few moments of clarity and realized he's sick of being a puppet. He's beyond wealthy, he can claim the title of President, and he's already on death's door. Kamala was their backup plan but nobody likes her either.

I really can't think of any way Trump loses this election, but I guess I said the same thing when he ran against Biden. I wonder if they are genuinely considering not putting forward a candidate at all, calling this one a loss and spend the next four years propping up their next tool. After Trump I think Republicans are going to have a really hard time finding a replacement. They'll have a much easier time competing against whoever comes next, even if he is endorsed by Trump. Dr Oz got a Trump endorsement and he lost to a criminal with literal brain damage.

If they officially tap out it hurts all the Ds down ballot becasue people go to the polls for the president, everyone and everything else is an afterthought. It also hurts their image as the underdog resistance if they willingly just hand Trump the victory after fear mongering their supporters for 8 years. In their supporters eyes they just handed Hitler the keys to the kingdom. The dems need to put up at least a token attempt and hope they can start swinging back by midterms once everyone forgot how bad Biden was.

Michelle is a very strong, smart and conscious woman (and helped her husband secure power during his time in office).

It makes sense to put her on the ticket alongside with Kamala. And let's be honest, democrats right now don't have anyone even close in popularity to fight Trump. The Obama name still carry weight within democrats (and republicans) voters... Michelle is a logical choice.
