Because it's possible that some of Aarons claims are lies while other claims are truthful. Especially when truth is corroborated with other testimonies and evidence. So it's not a matter of trusting Aaron on some things and not others, its a matter of filtering out his bullshit to see what fits with what has been shown publicly, alleged or proven by parties involved.
