The thing is, it's hard to tell what exactly Aaron is lying about if he is at all (which he's probably at the very least embellishing shit and leaving out parts that make him look reprehensible,) as he no doubt has seen his fair share of shit worthy of telling a story. He also knows when to not embellish something, such as telling PPP Nick doesn't particularly seeth about his thread to others in person.

It's already been said but Nick has a sister, but she's a total mess too. Got divorced and became a lesbian then moved out of the country to teach yoga in Mexico while leaving her kid with the ex who immediately remarried. @Himedall All-seeing Waifu had pulled it ages ago, I don't know if he ever pieced it together beyond that.

Also worth noting that Nick's dad isn't that much older than him, he's maybe early-sixties and he was seen donating for Nick to take shots as late as a few months ago. What little we've seen of Nick's family is frankly disastrous, and I'm willing to bet that his relatives all would have done the same shit he did if they had been given the opportunity. Apples rarely fall far from their trees.

I'm guessing based on how quickly they resettled the kids that they're currently in their closer maternal grandparent's care. Given that they have little presence and Kayla's sister was worried about the children, I'm willing to bet they're the substantially better option between the two.

IIRC long term cocaine use eventually causes permanent structural changes and degradation in the brain. If he's been using long enough, the coke brain may well be permanent.

It's permanent. Nick taking bathroom breaks to do lines combined with his years-long history with alcoholism at this point has ensured it, and even if he could get better he clearly does not have the willpower to do it anyway, not to mention his probable inability to go through withdrawal symptoms. He's posted bail so he can go home and drink again despite claiming that he dumped all his alcohol, something that we all know is impossible given how far into addiction he is and how he can't physically go cold-turkey at this point. Nick hasn't just been doing the occasional line, he was stockpiling coke for multiple people and if the substances haven't fucked his brain then all the hitting himself has to have done something.

People used to joke about how pickled Nick's brain was from the drinking, and this was only within the past year or so. Who knows how long he's been doing coke at this point, and whatever other drugs that people are unaware of or forgetting. Part of the reason why Nick's desperate flailing at this stage is so pitiful to watch is that anybody could see he's basically fucked for life just by looking at him, and that's also why it's bewildering that there are reasonably educated people like Barnes, Viva and Joe still defending him.
