To be fair, a lot, if not most of the Farms is gonna back July in this because of our own collective bias against Vito. There's bias both ways. Yeah, Vito needs to be fed into a wood chipper (in Minecraft) for many reasons, but should he lose a lawsuit to July? I think those are two separate things.

What we really need is a another legal analysis guy to go over this and give a non-bias take, but I dunno if that's gonna happen, or if anybody like that even exists. Nick is clearly not that person. I don't think he would have the been the proper person even when he was popular. He's too close to Dick. Implying he didn't have skin in the game with Masterson. He was and is fan of Dick. He was a fan before he even had a Youtube channel. He created his Youtube channel because of the Maddox case. Because he couldn't get the same audience in Dick fan forums. He thought "well, I have a law degree, and I love Dick, so I can totally talk about this." It was, at least arguably, his first grift. His head swelled from the reception he got, and being right, and he graduated to things like Meyer v. Waid and the Vic case. He was rewarded for his service to Dick by being invited to Road Rages and whatnot. He's still enjoying the fruits of that labor from Dick. He'll soon be at Nashville.

Look, I'm not saying Maddox wasn't an easy call. It was. Only that he was right in spite of his obvious bias. Him making the right call there helped launch his online career. It help cement trust in him, early on. Especially among KF. Which paid dividends for follow-ons like Vic. I think one mistake he made was that he thought too highly of himself for being on the right side of history, and thought his predictions would always pan out. They clearly have not.

What's interesting about the Maddox case is Nick wasn't a "voice in the wilderness" like he was with Vic. Many other people in the online sphere with J.D.s thought Maddox's case was shit too. Notably Popehat, who put out a call for people to contribute to the defense fund of Asterios.

This is why I say Nick could be right here, in spite of his bias and general ineptitude, but determining whether he is would be a lot easier if somebody competent actually chimed in. I'd accept the "Rekieta effect" prediction a lot more if he defends Dick, and nobody else with a law degree does.

I do agree though that very early Nick was a lot closer to being right. I think maybe Tonkasaw was the last thing where he gave a truly thoughtful and almost completely accurate legal analysis. In fact, he published his first Vic video right after his last Maddox one. Here's a funny picture. On the left, you have a video that depicts something Rekieta could gloat over. I think what makes it particularly scummy is the fact they pretended they were a reporter and pretended they thought that Rippa was connected to ISOM. That was specifically done to plant the idea there is consumer confusion between the mark, and July's character.
