CEO of UnitedHealth was shot in the chest outside the Hilton hotel in Midtown

The CEO of insurance giant UnitedHealthcare was gunned down Wednesday outside a luxury Midtown hotel in a “brazen, targeted attack” by a chillingly methodical killer who used a firearm with a silencer, police said.

Brian Thompson, 50, was repeatedly shot by a masked gunman who had been lying in wait outside the Hilton hotel along Sixth Avenue, where the CEO was hosting an investors’ conference, said NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.

“Many people passed the suspect, but he appeared to wait for his intended target,” she said.

The cold-blooded gunman – who remained on the loose late Wednesday – could be seen in disturbing surveillance video obtained by The Post calmly firing multiple gunshots into Thompson at about 6:46 a.m.

Law enforcement sources said it appeared the shooter not only used a silencer, but was proficient enough with the gun to smoothly clear it after a jam to continue firing.

The suspect was last seen entering Central Park, according to officials.

The smoothly efficient execution of Thompson unfolded in full view of shocked witnesses in the heart of Manhattan, one of the most heavily trafficked places on the planet – just hours before and blocks away from thousands of sightseers who lined up to watch the Rockefeller Christmas tree’s lighting.

But the killer’s apparently measured actions – including an escape on an e-bike into Central Park, where surveillance camera coverage is spotty – could be undercut by him apparently dropping a key clue: a cell phone.

Investigators firmly believe a phone found in an alleyway near the Hilton belongs to the gunman, and obtained a search warrant to comb through its contents, sources told The Post.

A manhunt was underway for the suspect as the NYPD and CrimeStoppers offered a $10,000 reward for information.

The motive behind the heinous hit remained unknown, said NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny. A personal or professional grudge had not been ruled out as of late Wednesday and law-enforcement sources said that Thompson had received threats.

“But based on the evidence we have so far, it does appear that the victim was specifically targeted,” Kenny said. “But at this point, we do not know why. This does not appear to be a random act of violence.”
Thompson was well-respected in his field, raking in a salary of nearly $9.9 million a year to head the nation’s largest private health insurer, according to the Economic Research Institute.

But his company also had a history of controversially rejecting claims and faced a Department of Justice antitrust investigation.

The shooting took place a little more than an hour before UnitedHealth’s investors’ conference was scheduled to begin at the Hilton, police said.

The gunman walked up to the hotel about five minutes before the shooting, Kenny said.

Witnesses told The Post the suspect had been spotted near the hotel, on Sixth Avenue, milling around. And NYPD officials later released a photo showing the alleged gunman inside a nearby Starbucks.

The masked suspect nonchalantly bought a bottle of water and two PowerBars inside the Starbucks minutes before the shooting, law-enforcement sources said.

When Thompson – who had been staying at the nearby Marriott, according to sources – walked up to the hotel, the masked suspect struck, Kenny said.

“The shooter steps onto the sidewalk from behind the car, he ignores numerous other pedestrians, approaches the victim from behind and shoots him in the back,” Kenny said. “The shooter then walks toward the victim and continues to shoot.”

The shooter’s weapon appeared to have malfunctioned at that point, but he managed to clear it to continue firing – a sign the suspect is proficient with firearms, Kenny said.

A gunshot startled one witness nearby, who told PIX11 that he saw the armed assassin.

“I hear a shot,” the witness said, according to PIX11. “When I look around, I saw a guy with a gun. He shot three times, then he starts running.”

Thompson was struck by bullets at least once each in his back and right calf, Tisch said.

First responders arrived and engaged in a desperate attempt to save Thompson with CPR, harrowing video shows.

He was rushed in critical condition to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:12 a.m., police said.

The suspect was described as a white male wearing a dark jacket, black face mask, and black and white sneakers. Officials said he was carrying a distinctive gray backpack.

Kenny said the shooter first ran off through the Ziegfeld alleyway between 54th and 55th streets, then hopped onto an e-bike – a ride captured in another surveillance photo.

The gunman peddled up the Avenue of the Americas toward Central Park, and was last seen around 6:48 a.m. biking onto Center Drive, Kenny said.

Cops recovered three live 9-millimeter rounds and three discharged shell casings at the scene, the chief said.

They also collected the cell phone and a water bottle believed to be the one purchased by the suspect in Starbucks, law-enforcement sources said.

Investigators hope they can pull fingerprints from the unspent ammunition, as well as DNA from the water bottle and phone, sources said.

A sweep of surveillance video footage is underway, with police combing feeds near Central Park to trace the gunman’s escape, police said. They’re also pulling video from outside Thompson’s hotel and the Marriott to see if the shooter cased them before the attack, sources said.

By Wednesday afternoon, the search yielded surveillance video that appears to have captured the gunman leaving the area near the Frederick Douglass Houses on the Upper West Side around 5 a.m., more than hour before the shooting, sources said.

Other video showed the shooter leave the park’s west side, sources said.

The New York Times obtained surveillance footage showing a man wearing clothing and backpack matching the shooter’s distinctive garb walk near the shooting scene around 6:30 a.m. The man in the footage appears to be making a phone call.

Kenny said detectives are working with Citi Bike, which puts GPS tracks on its bikes, to track down the shooter’s ride.

He said the NYPD was “looking at everything.”

“We’re looking at his social media,” he said. “We are interviewing employees, we are interviewing family members. We will be speaking to law enforcement in Minnesota.”

Thompson leaves behind his wife Paulette ‘Pauley’ Thompson, 51, and two children in Minnesota.

The family had received threats, Paulette Thompson told NBC News.

“There had been some threats,” she said, according to NBC. “Basically, I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details. I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”

A source confirmed to The Post that United Healthcare informed investigators that Thompson had been the recipient of threats. While this is not uncommon for CEO of a health care company, investigators are investigating every one of those leads and running them to ground, the source said.

In a statement to a Minnesota FOX outlet, Paulette Thompson the senseless killing left the family “shattered.”

“Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives,” the statement reads. “Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed.”

Police in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where the Thompsons live, told The Post that they responded to a single report from their home – a “suspicious activity” incident during 2018 that they cleared “with no criminal activity detected.”

The shooting sent shockwaves through the investors’ conference, where Fortune reported emotional attendees began to cry.

The slain CEO was “a stand up guy, a good dude,” said one investor who had previously dined with Thompson, according to Forbes. “I’ve never met anyone who had anything bad to say about him.”

Thompson, who had worked with UnitedHealth for the last 20 years, took the role of CEO in 2021 and was based at its offices in Minnetonka, Minnesota, according to his LinkedIn account.

When promoting Thompson, Witty praised his commitment to the company, which serves as the largest private health insurer in the US.

The exec lived in a five-bedroom home that he purchased in the North Star State in 2018 for $1 million, according to Zillow.

Thompson previously served as the company’s head of government programs, including Medicare and retirement.

The UnitedHealth Group, which employs more than 100,000 people across America, is ranked fourth in the Fortune 500.

Prominent pension funds in California later filed a federal lawsuit against Thompson and other UnitedHealthcare executives, accusing them of offloading $117 million in company stock before the DOJ probe became public.

Thompson had reaped $15.1 million by dumping the stock, the lawsuit contends.

And UnitedHealthcare has developed a reputation for rejecting claims, a practice at least in part because it used an AI model with a 90% error rate to deny health coverage, Ars Technica first reported.

Mayor Eric Adams sought to reassure New Yorkers that the shooting wasn’t a random act of violence in one of the most visible and highly trafficked places in the country – mere blocks and hours away from the Rockefeller Christmas tree’s lighting.

“It seemed to have been clearly targeted by an individual, and we will apprehend that individual.”

NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said the shooting will not affect the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting later that evening.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement that state police will provide the NYPD with whatever they need.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz offered prayers for Thompson’s family.

“This is horrifying news and a terrible loss for the business and health care community in Minnesota,” he said in a statement.

WASHINGTON — Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Sunday night, a reversal for the president, who repeatedly said he would not use his executive authority to pardon his son or commute his sentence.

"I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice — and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision," Biden said in a statement.


Hunter Biden is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12 for his conviction on federal gun charges. He also is set to be sentenced on Dec. 16 in a separate criminal case in which he pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion charges in September.

The pardon is expected to cover both his gun charges conviction and his guilty plea.

A senior White House official told NBC News, which was the first to report on the pardon decision, that the president decided over the weekend to grant his son a pardon and began to inform his senior aides Sunday.

The president also spoke about his son's struggles with addiction in his statement Sunday night, saying that his political opponents were trying to "break" him by going after Hunter.

"No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son — and that is wrong," Biden said in his statement. "There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough."

Biden, 82, is using his pardon power to ensure Hunter Biden does not spend time in jail as he nears the end of his term in the White House and has no future election to face. In recent months, he has said he would not pardon his son or commute his sentence.

“I will not pardon him,” he said in June after a jury found Hunter Biden guilty on three federal gun charges.

The president has discussed pardoning his son with some of his closest aides at least since Hunter Biden’s conviction in June, said two people with direct knowledge of the discussions about the matter. They said it was decided at the time that he would publicly say he would not pardon his son even though doing so remained on the table.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters last month that Biden’s position has not changed.

“We’ve been asked that question multiple times. Our answer stands, which is ‘no,’” she said.

Asked Monday whether the president is still committed to not granting clemency for his son, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said: “The president has spoken to this.” Pressed about whether Biden’s position has changed, Bates replied, “I don’t have anything to add what he said already.”

First lady Jill Biden has also said her husband would not pardon their son.

“Joe and I both respect the judicial system, and that’s the bottom line,” she said in an interview in June.

Hunter Biden’s criminal trial in June was the first involving the child of a sitting president.

Pardoning him after that trial would have ignited a political firestorm for his father, who was campaigning for re-election. Republicans have for years attacked Hunter Biden over his foreign business dealings and accused him and the president of corruption. They have also argued that Hunter Biden was getting special treatment by the Justice Department because of his father’s political power.

GOP criticism reached a peak in July 2023 when Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in a deal with federal prosecutors over the tax and gun charges, which collapsed after a judge raised questions about it. That development led Attorney General Merrick Garland a couple weeks later to appoint the U.S. attorney investigating Hunter Biden, David Weiss, as a special counsel.

Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race in July, but a pardon before last month's election also could have generated political blowback on the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris after she took his place on the Democratic ticket.

Together, the 12 counts Hunter Biden is convicted of or has pleaded guilty to carry a maximum prison sentence of 42 years. But the maximum sentences typically are not given out for convictions of these crimes. The Justice Department has said, for instance, that while the tax charges carry a maximum sentence of 17 years, sentences are typically less than that.

Asked in an interview in June whether he would rule out a pardon for his son, Biden answered, “Yes.”

Days later, after Hunter Biden was convicted on federal gun charges by a jury in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, the president said in a statement that he would respect the outcome. He then told reporters he would abide by the jury’s decision.

“I’m extremely proud of my son Hunter,” Biden said. “He has overcome an addiction. He’s one of the brightest, most decent men I know, and I am satisfied that I’m not going to do anything. I said I abide by the jury decision. I will do that, and I will not pardon him.”

Neil Eggleston, who was White House counsel to President Barack Obama, told NBC News that “if I were his White House counsel, I would encourage him to pardon his son.” He said he has not been contacted or consulted by the White House about any pardon preparations.

“The clemency power has few limitations and certainly would extend to a Hunter Biden pardon,” Eggleston said.

Eggleston’s opinion echoes that of other former Justice Department and White House officials previously involved in presidential pardons who told NBC News that they thought Biden should exercise this power in advance of the incoming Trump administration.

They don't have to do this but they do because they're better than ordinary people. Understand that if you volunteer this means you'll probably get a frantic PM in the last week before Christmas asking you to produce something. But without you, someone could get nothing. If you'd be able to do a quick gift on short notice, we thank you.

Bluesky is a decentralized, open source social media app that is similar to 𝕏 / Twitter. In fact, Bluesky was originally created in 2019 by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to be an initiative into researching the possibility of decentralizing Twitter. However, Jack Dorsey stepped down as Twitter CEO in 2021 and Elon Musk acquired Twitter in 2022, which resulted in the Bluesky initiative being severed from Twitter and evolving into a separate standalone app instead. When Elon Musk took control of Twitter, rebranded it to 𝕏, and worked to overhaul the platform's censorship and biased moderation, many leftists, politicians, celebrities, influencers, trannies, lolcows and other Twitter users who believed Musk had "ruined" Twitter, decided to flock to Bluesky, hoping that it would grow and overtake Musk's 𝕏. Other unsavory groups such as pedophiles, zoophiles, zoosadists, lolicon and shotacon enjoyers would also migrate from Twitter to Bluesky. As Bluesky's userbase pretty much consists of all the leftists and smug trannies that left Twitter due to Musk's alteration of Twitter's moderation policies, the Bluesky app has ended up becoming an even bigger echo chamber and hugbox with even stricter moderation to crush dissent.

Functionally, Bluesky is very similar to Twitter, although more bare-bones. In addition to missing several features of Twitter, the app's performance is also noticeably more sluggish. There were times when the app's performance would chug and lag, likely due to it not being built to properly accommodate the userbase, which was larger than anticipated.

Skeets
Posts on Bluesky are referred to as "Skeets" (likely a portmanteau of sky and Tweet), which is meant to parallel Twitter's name for posts, Tweets. Building off of this term, the act of posting on Bluesky can be referred to as "Skeeting", akin to how the act of posting on Twitter is called "Tweeting". Amusingly, while likely not the intention of the creators, the term "skeet" is already an existing term that means to cum or ejaculate, whose meaning was completely lost to them:

Now then, given the fact that most Bluesky users are tranny coomers, using the term "skeets" doesn't seem to be much of an issue, despite how retarded it looks. It also seems to be something that has developed naturally within the community as a result of "decentralized naming decisions". Not everyone at Bluesky is happy with the term, as Bluesky CEO Lantian "Jay" Graber has begged Bluesky users to not let "skeets" stick, suggesting the term "skoots" instead:


Invite Codes

When Bluesky was first launched in February 2023, it was an invite-only beta that required an invite code to register. Several prominent influencers and celebrities, including Breadtuber Twitch streamers were given referral codes to share with their audience. As a result, these codes were kept within these leftist spheres and resulted in Bluesky becoming a pro-tranny leftist hugbox. In October 2022, a waitlist for an invite code was launched, but it could take months to obtain a code, making getting a code that was given out by an influencer or exising user (who could also share a certain amount of codes per month) the preferable method of getting into Bluesky. Despite this, during this invite only period, some outsiders, including Kiwi Farms users, were able to obtain referral codes in order to access the platform. Another reason that people were hesitant to give out their codes is Bluesky's moderation would punish users for offenses committed by people they invited, as the system would keep track of who was invited by who. On February 6th, 2024, the app would open up to the public, eliminating the need for the invite codes. Keep this system in mind for later, as it would have a major impact on how the culture and moderation of the app were shaped.

AT Protocol

Bluesky would also create the AT Protocol (Authenticated Transfer Protocol), also known as ATProto, which is an open standard for decentralized social networking services. The AT Protocol powers the Bluesky social network and aims to create a decentralized, interoperable, and scalable online ecosystem where users can retain, manage, and customize a single federated online identity across various online platforms and services. Developers are able to use it to develop their own social media applications.

However, despite being "open source", if you want to run your own Personal Data Server, to join the network you'll need to join Bluesky's AT Protocol PDS Admins Discord server:

Funding, Management and Site Engagement
Bluesky mainly makes money from investors funding it. Bluesky does not intend on making money through traditional advertising, like on Twitter, although it may introduce premium subscription features:

Twitter 𝕏odus / Twitter Derangement Syndrome
A large chunk of Bluesky users are former Twitter users who migrated to Bluesky due to disliking Elon Musk and his takeover of Twitter and how it is now a far right Nazi hate platform, a phenomenon that has been dubbed the "Twitter 𝕏odus". This results in a huge amount of posts on Bluesky being nothing more than whining about how much better Bluesky is than Twitter, or how Twitter will soon die and Bluesky will reign supreme. The following posts are examples of this:



Alongside constant posts about how Twitter has gone to shit and everyone is leaving it, Bluesky users like to also huff their own farts and boast about how they have the best social media platform in existence and remind you constantly how much better Bluesky is than Twitter:

The invite-only code system is likely a reason behind this sense of superiority and entitlement, as Bluesky users seem to believe they're a part of some exclusive club that Nazi Twitter chuds aren't invited to. So many posts on Bluesky are related to how bad Twitter is or how everyone is leaving, to the point that one could say that the majority of Bluesky is suffering from Twitter Derangement Syndrome. Another thing to consider is how many of these people taking part in the great "Twitter 𝕏odus" proclaim they are leaving Twitter for good, only to return shortly afterwards because they're not getting the engagement they want out of Bluesky's hugbox.

The moderation on Bluesky is like pre-Musk Twitter amplified tenfold, allowing for no dissent against leftist tranny dogma which often results in banning and shadowbanning. Rather than having a dedicated moderation team, a lot of Bluesky moderation is either automated and based on reporting with practically no appeal process or relies on community policing instead. As the community is already an extremely insulated hugbox full of censorious troons, this often causes purity spirals, petty drama and in-fighting as these power-hungry trannies turn on their own and devour each other.

This raises the question of why is Bluesky's moderation the way it is? Well, remember the invite-only system when the app was still in beta?

The first 10,000 users on Bluesky were a bunch of a insufferable trannies. As they were the main people that were given invite codes and distributing them, these original 10,000 troons ensured that only other troons, chasers and enablers would be invited by gatekeeping who got invite codes. The app being invite-only also gave these original users a massive sense of entitlement and superiority, as if they were apart of an exclusive account that those simpleton chud Nazi peons over on Twitter weren't allowed in.

As a consequence of this, the core userbase of Bluesky is a bunch of entitled, totalitarian trannies that are quick to report anything that mildly bothers them while simultaneously believing they are above all rules simply because they're trannies which has resulted in the app becoming a massive tranny hugbox echo chamber. Of course, this type of behavior from a tranny isn't surprising, but the issue is more that Bluesky in particular enables this behavior far more than other platforms. The core userbase is so toxic and unwelcoming that 6% of new accounts end up deleting their accounts because they can't fucking stand how insufferable the power-hungry trannies are and are unable to gain traction or go against the app's culture. Blocking is widely used on the platform, with 42.53% of users blocking someone, while 48.4% of users have been blocked by at least one other account. Such an open and welcoming community!

It should also be noted that despite claims about how nice the community is for all the "like-minded" people within it, Bluesky's users are so intolerant of one another that they are reporting each other to Bluesky Kommissars at a rate of 3000 reports per hour:

Soyjak.Party / The Sharty is an imageboard site comprised of former /qa/ users that enjoy raiding other sites. On September 4th, 2024, the /soy/ board on Soyjak.Party would create a thread in order to raid Bluesky:

The Sharty raid would not only illustrate how dead Bluesky was, but it would also expose how terrible the app's security was. It was discovered that Bluesky accounts could be created without any email verification:

This oversight likely stems from the platform's time as invite-only, as the userbase and developers likely believed that the invite codes would prevent any future raid, although when Bluesky finally went public, they appeared to have forgot about this being a potential issue. The lack of email verification made it very easy for Soyjak.Party to raid and spam Bluesky once it went public.

Funnily enough I just saw Elphaba mentioned elsewhere on the farms and felt guilty for neglecting this thread. Ok so for context, Elphaba has priors for stalking various West End actresses who played Elphaba.

Around July Elphie moved into a porn/rentboy house on Middle Street (near Smithfield Market and The Barbican) run by this guy, Scott Houzet:

Scott let Elphaba live in the basement without paying for rent or bills (but possibly pimping him out? I can't imagine Elphaba earns much money from that) and seems to have been giving Elphie coke and pills, which made him worse.

In the run up to the Wicked premiere, Elphaba was aggressively tagging Universal Studios, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo trying to get noticed. Universal Studios did notice, but in the form of legal action - who yanked his unauthorised cover of "Defying Gravity" off of Spotify;

Talia Dean - someone he's been frenemies with on TikTok for some time - has recently been getting some press attention. She was an X Factor finalist in 2017 but announced this year she was quitting music to "spread the message of The Lord", and then for some reason has now released a charity Christmas single with Brian May from Queen. So she got a press ticket to go to the Wicked premiere in Leicester Square, and told Elphaba she'd bring him as a plus one.

It's not entirely clear how much of this was Talia fucking with him and how much of this was Universal Studios intervening, but Talia then essentially told Elphaba that she now wasn't allowed to bring him as a +1, and if he wanted access to the red carpet and stars he'd have to make his own way. So Elphaba attempted to start a grassroots campaign to get invited as the British face of Wicked. Which then prompted Universal Studios to start issuing clarifications;


He doubled down trying to get an invite, and amazingly actually did get invited!


Except he didn't, this was from a troll who made a fake email account and sent fake details, only to rugpull later on. Although he started to talk about getting a fan wristband for the public area, he began spiralling and threatening to self harm again which thus prompted multiple followers to phone in a wellness check from the police:

Unsurprisingly, Scott did NOT want police sniffing around his druggy rentboy house so promptly kicked Elphaba out a couple of days before the premiere. Having recently pissed off Chelsea Lee Art again, he was unable to find anywhere else to stay (and didn't have enough TikTok money for a hotel room short notice, especially since he's been banned from some of the cheaper chains) which lead Elphaba to speculate that this was all a long con big troll.


At this point, Elphaba returned to his mother's house in Barnstable. He began insisting he didn't care about going to the premiere anyway, but then some Brit-tokers called him from the premiere:


"Everyone's asking why you're not here" = "Hahaha you're not here and we are". I'm not 100% but I think they also suggested they'd be able to get him a backstage pass if he turned up, knowing full well that he would be unable to get to London from Barnstable in time, which then prompted a massive meltdown and his mother Maria yelling at him (it's speculated Maria has a behavioural covenant on her council flat and could get kicked out if she or her son have any massive meltdowns)



TikTok drama that mostly takes place over lives is very annoying to try and archive, which is partly why this thread ends up so dead. I fully recommend checking out Tattle as they've got an active following of Elphaba, but their board culture is quite different to the Farms.
