Us and an assortment of shadowy, secretive, yet insanely powerful groups with literally nothing better to do than interfere with Tommie’s important work of wandering around Tucson, high as a kite, probably drunk, and degrading into dementia.

Seriously, it’s a failing of western society that non functional people are largely left to their own devices.

Even as recently as 50 years ago, if not families, local communities would do their best for people like Tommie.

Pub landlords would let them sit by the fire drinking “mild”, vicars and priests would let them sleep in church doorways and provide them with a bowl of gruel.

Even workhouses were set up with best intentions.

Letting them just wander around, with nothing to do but get drunk, high and wank at bushes is just cruel and dangerous.
 
I suspect Tom would be an ungrateful grifter, sex pest and general pain in everyone's ass even in those gentler times. He fights people trying to help him as hard as he fights sobriety.
 
I don’t think even he can keep track of his web of conspiracies against him. I believe the story goes that we’re being paid by the Hoffman group or their agents are manipulating us, so we might not get directly blamed.
 
We’ll get blamed by Tommy but that’s inevitable. Tommy could trip over his own shoelaces and say it was because “the trolls are stalking me and I got distracted”.

Will we get blamed by anyone else? No, unless much like the Chris curse, there’s a Tommy curse, and the glowies, judges and lawyers surrounding Tommy catch his… retardation by osmosis or something.

Tom will inevitably blame his problems on a whole host of other people and organizations. Us, the Hoffman gang, police, secret service, whoever.

He will never acknowledge that about 90% of his problems are his own damn fault.

I would say 99%.

Even the stuff that “isn’t his fault” like dementia and fecal incontinence, is made far worse by conscious decisions he made earlier in his life and now during his rare moments of clarity.

Had he sought treatment for an irritable bowel and not come to depend on weed and other drugs as a self medication, he would have an easier time and been reacted to better by the public at large.

Had he sought professional therapy for his “quirks”, he likely would be fairly successful and wanting for nothing.

Whatever he wants to claim, he has come from a family with a reasonable fortune and has deliberately ruined the advantages that gave him in pursuit of a faded hippy dream.

Except there's nothing to do for "people" like Tom-Bomb other than tie the rope and string them up.

He's a fucking child molester. He should have been killed years ago.
 
Whose to say he isn’t already doing it right now?

With any luck Toms unhinged ranting about the shadowy, global forces that conspire to cripple his “business” and ruin his life will keep him in psyche hold longer than your average troublesome hobo.
 
110% chance he spent the car ride screaming about the Farms to the transferring officer and probably did the same to whoever was unfortunate enough to be there booking and processing him.
 
Pretty sure he's going to blame the person who called in the trespass and the Mental Health unit for breaking their promise to let him run wild.
 
Honestly, it says volumes about our shitty mental health care that Tommie is frequently released and left to wander Tucson (like others here have said). I do wonder if Tommie's recent outbursts are being considered this time, like the threats on an officer's young child. Also wonder what role (if any) the family has in this. Wasn't there something about the brother or brother-in-law having some sort of control?

At this point, I wonder what specific line(s) Tommie would have to cross to be deemed a danger to the community. IIRC there was a young child present in one of those trespassing videos, and I felt bad that they had to be present for Tommie's violent outburst.

By people like Tom, I mean other mentally unstable or elderly and degenerative individuals loosing their faculties and just being left to get worse.

In Tom’s case as a child and dog molester who is also independently insane, there did use to be a perfect solution.

A traveling freak show where Tom could be kept in a cage and the owner charging a nickel a head to poke him with sticks and laugh at his distress.
