The fact he punched right, counter signals other dissident right movement and only wants people to worship him. Even if you Catguard Fuentes, he won’t return the favor and backstab you. (See Joel Davis’ recent catguarding)
It's bizarre that there are still people who think Nick Fuentes is a serious political figure and not just a grifter. You would think that a real political leader trying to accomplish legislative or social change would love the fact that there are so many groups aligned under a similar ideology for the sake of pushing a particular agenda. Instead, Nick hates that there are people on the far right who aren't specifically under the America First banner and constantly attacks people who are 90% aligned with his political views to try and co-opt their audiences.
Imagine if this happened on the left. What if Antifa kept attacking Black Lives Matter for being unoptical? What if Antifa's leadership spent almost all of its time shitting on BLM leaders, insisting that BLM supporters should join Antifa instead, and spent next to zero effort on pushing a left wing agenda? From an outsider perspective, it would almost come across as though Antifa is anti-left. The more conspiratorially minded might even say that Antifa is a glownigger-filled organization specifically created to sabotage the left. The more cynical might think that Antifa is just run by a bunch of grifters who only care about growing their own audience and don't give a shit about politics.
From a grifting perspective, what Nick does makes perfect sense. If you have a fake far-right organization and want to grow it for the sake of getting more donors, you wouldn't attack the left. Even if you succeeded in impeding the left's agenda, the number of leftists who would be convinced to go to the extreme opposite end of the political spectrum would be negligible. On the other hand, if you go after the alt-right, then their audiences are much more likely to feel like their particular brand of conservative was bad and switch to a different one.
From a political perspective, what Nick does seems irrational. If you instead think of him like a cult leader, or even just a social media influencer trying to get more subscribers, suddenly what he does makes perfect sense.
