that's also true, although if he were to exchange it, i think he'd need a receipt which would most likely not be given to him if he "won" it

That's a good question, obviously a 75 year old woman getting her mourning coffee wouldn't care for an Xbox One. They probably don't give out receipts but that wouldn't stop someone from selling it. I'm sure Chris can go on craigslist with an unopened Xbox. He wouldn't get full price but if he was smart--never mind.

Suppose that Barb were to meet a man* and marry him, or at least develop a serious relationship with him. In this hypothetical scenario, the new husband/boyfriend is generally willing to tolerate Chris's bullshit (being a tomgirl, not having a job, being obese, etc). How do you think Chris will react?

Since OPL is almost completely unwilling to stand up to this mother, I doubt that he will try to do anything about this situation if it were to upset him, but I'm not sure what would his emotional reactions be like. I'm guessing he will go through the "YOU'RE NOT MY FATHER" routine, party as a normal reaction kids have to those kinds of situations, and partly due to the fact that this is what TV tells him his reaction should be. I also wouldn't be surprised if he would be jealous of his new stepfather for managing to find love and being one of those obnoxious males who takes all the pretty girls away from him.

Does anyone here takes the opposite view, that Chris would respond to this situation in an adult manner and be happy for his mother?

*I'm not not too interested in speculating about the possibility of Barb going lesbo since it seems to me even more unlikely than her finding a new man, but if anyone wants to discuss this than go ahead.

I'm not too sure about that. Chris can be extremely petty at times, like when he accused Waterman of trying to imitate him because he was growing his hair long. I'm not sure about how possessive of Barb he is, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chris's reaction to the prospect of his mother getting remarried would be one of horror.
