I have to wonder what's happened? To us? To this place? The farms. The spark of anger, of cynical realism vs idealism it...it's still here but it's like it's gone dim. To embers where once was a great furnace of righteous indignation is now but a puff of smoke and hot air.
I think it's just being able to separate the art from the artist, or in this case its fans, and judging it as its own thing.

Go and rewatch it, you probably won't see what you saw in it the last time you watched it.
I'm genuinely retarded and liked the Bee Movie. It's a weird-ass premise that goes really far with it and would, in any other universe, be completely unmarketable. Reminds me of the weird stuff I write.

20 year old mentally ill college students? Of course those still exist. I took this photo at least a year ago, but my therapist's office actually has special Steven Universe screenings for use in therapy:

(I've googled the events and nothing came up, so I'm pretty sure I'm safe to post these and not dox myself)
I mean if you want the kids to kill themselves sooner than this is perfect.

Had to explain to the family Screamlings that there isn't a Transformers Animated Season 4 (Reiterated that I was sad about it too) so the kids decided to have me draw out some of their made up fanfiction plots. Didn't really understand their attempts but it was fun helping them bring their imagination to paper.

I loathe Hasbro for abandoning their true orginal audience.

KIND OF animation but apparently they're working on another live action TF. I miss the old fashioned American military/explosion porn of Bayverese so I'm a tad curious. I like that type of action movie stuff.

I never read a comic by zerocalcare in my life.
Or at least, I never properly read them, I saw volumes for sale in libraries, tried to check between pages, only to put it back on the shelf as it wouldn't catch my interest,
Recently, a person that lives with me has started to watch on netflix the series by the same author, Tear Along the Dotted Line and, honestly, I find it quite bad:
The main character is overly verbose and pretentious but, like the terrone that he is, he doesn't have anything intelligent to say, he talks, talks, talks complain about shit and make retarded comparison at such a speed that he is pretty much a Brian Griffin gags compilation played at 3x speed, so squalid and unfunny that it made me regret criticizing Yiik.
Multiple characters are furries with little to no explanation or reason, and while that alone would be stupid but inoffensive, the fact that the protagonist has a giant talking armadillo acting as a psychiatrist as imaginary friend, something that just creates confusion and makes the world feels all the more inchoerent.
The heavy accent fromt he protagonist (dubbed by the author) desn't makes him look like there's an intelligent person behind this and, in the latest episode I had the displeasure to listen while eating showed him criticize the italian political system (a target so low it has long been buried) and, at the same time, criticize the use of the world "black" (not "nigger", we italians give 0 fucks about racial slurs since blaspheming is funnier and way more offensive) while sticking the whole fence up his ass by claiming that while saying "black" is bad, we shouldn't behave like the yookay.
Something I feel like you need to understand is that zerocalcare is a champagne communist that speaks a lot but, at the same time, its shitass cartoon directed and dubbed by he himself, has caused drama in Italy due to how the animators were underpayed and forced to crunch, I have 0 respect toward this person, who fully embodies "the left can't meme" joke by creating stories where he himself speaks from the mouth of every character, literally compares anti-immigration to nazi AND the KKK, all while using a thousand words could do with ten.
Finally, I wanna teach you all a new word: "TERRONE" is how real italian refers to the subhumans that live in the center and south of the nation, there's not that much to say about them, they are parasites who embodies each and every negative stereotype of italian people, its because of them that, historically, Italy is classified an underdeveloped country.
While the rest of the world was colonizing africa and south america, Italy was trying to hold itself into shape, and terroni just do jack and shit.
These people are subhuman. and even then they kicked out the people that then became italian-americans.

I think it was just down to a combination of dedication on the part of the creatives and the fact that the bronies were genuinely internally supportive to one another. There seemed to be very little internal drama within that group, most of the bad shit seemed to come from where they rubbed up against other fandoms or from where they just did something really really spergy and/or disgusting. They seemingly went out of their way to squash and contain internal strife in a frankly professional and adult manner.
Can someone please explain to me that whole weird not-Scooby Doo Mystery Skulls fan animated cinematic universe that happened a few years back. That was MLP adjacent, right? It's so fucking weird that it feels like it has to be.

The animator was a brony and dhd prior mlp fan animations, that's why it has a MLP feel.

damn i feel old hearing that name.

i watched the entire series when i was young.

still waiting for the next entry to the series.

Just catching up with this thread; excuse the word vomit
Brother Bear is basically Ice Age but written by people who didn't understand what made Ice Age charming.
Perfect descriptor.
My man, I say this entirely without irony, MLP:FIM is a legitimately good children's show. It's got a decent production value, most of the characters are pretty fun, and the writing and VA work doesn't make you as the babysitter want to kill yourself. If you ignore all the brony shit it's a good old fashioned kid's cartoon like the kind they used to air in the early 2000s.
Everything after Season 2 @Judge Holden can easily skip, THAT'S when they started leaning HEAVILY on the periphery audience.
I started watching my DVD collection of the Critic. The first episode was good.
It's sad how relevant the "just don't go" speech still is today.

"If the movie used to be a TV show, just don't go."

"After Roman numeral 2, give it a rest."

"If it's a remake of a classic...."

"(TOR)RENT THE CLASSIC!"

She also lost interest in Nimona the moment the two gay characters held hands, which made me lol.

well. Honestly Shang does have a momentary wrestling with his emotions when Mulan is revealed and she tries to explain her motivations for tricking all of them. Like moments before he just found out his Dad got killed and was pursuing an enemy force in a mix of duty and revenge. Like they do animate him having conflict about her motives before the court faggot incel rages at her.

Mulan does have the whole girl power shit, but it’s much more tolerable and is more about Mulan feeling like a fuck up which she is.
Here’s the thing that I think people often miss about Mulan. She doesn’t dress up as a man and join the army to give the middle finger to the expectations and traditions of her culture, but to honor them. Mulan’s father teaches her that the three most important things in life are respecting her ancestors, protecting her family, and safeguarding her family’s honor. Now, ideally, these three priorities should be in alignment. But when Fa Zhou is called up to serve in the Imperial Army, those three priorities are suddenly thrown out of balance. If Mulan lets her father go to war, she will be respecting his wishes (respecting her ancestors) and ensuring that the family’s honor is intact, but she will not be protecting her family, because her father will almost certainly die.

But, if she somehow prevents him from going, she will be protecting her family, but disrespecting her father and bringing shame on the family. Mulan dressing up as a man and joining the army in her father’s place, while seemingly staggeringly transgressive, is really the only way Mulan has of resolving this conundrum and ensuring that all three of her duties are met. This is why Mulan the character is brilliant and why Mulan the 1998 movie is brilliant. It gives us a story that is progressive and inspiring to a modern audience, but is still rooted very much in the culture and Imperial Han milieu of the heroine (or the Disneyfied version of it, at least). It gets to have its cake and eat it, too.
The injins were bitching and complaining before Pocahontas even first came out, Disney also seems more than happy to quietly forget about it. It will never get a live action remake because it'll be too controversial and because redskins are poor and cannot be bilked for easy money the way that the chinks can.
See, the thing is…it is damn hard to write a portrayal of Injuns in any medium that doesn’t end up offending somebody. There are just so many stereotypes and tired tropes floating around that it is almost impossible to write a character that doesn’t fall into at least some of them. By deciding to make this movie Disney was pretty much setting itself up for a lose/lose situation.

Pilot that released recently by Nico Jiang, who's apparently worked on Ramshackle and some ZZZ shorts:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=uwpvQ332ynk
i already hate this.

Like is REEEEEEAAAAAALLLLLYYYYY that hard to make a setting that takes itself seriously and not have constant jokes and stupid goonbait?

Every single fuckin indie pilot has some stupid, unfunny as fuck humor and some typical goon slop so that it gets normalfaggots to watch it and not loose interest.

When can we have a series that is actually serious and sincere, and doesn't hold back on the themes it wants to portray?
like i want a series has an actually fucked up setting and doesn't make light of the situation. Like if wrote a series with the themes of anti war, it would show civilians dying and soldiers grappling with the terrible things they've done, maybe even some might take their own life. Also i would have the voice actors act and talk like real people and not typical anime dub voice acting. basically gundam but tomino decided to become the grim reaper and kill all the characters you like in the most brutal way to snap you back to reality.

also i'm not saying comedy is bad, but i am sick of EVERY pliot being comical in nature. I just want sincerity in writing.
