Took me a minute! I've seen a lot of hubcaps that look like that; just another example of how these "trypophobes" are doubtlessly incapable of handling the real world.
These people must have really comfortable and pampered lives to be scared of something so insignificant and non-threatening as fucking tiny ass holes.
Like, spiders? Rodents? Germs? Those are understandable phobias as those can kill you under the right circumstances. But I fail to see how something like holes in a watermelon can do anything to you.

I'm sure there are a few people who are trypophobes, they just don't let it control them.
That's what SJWism is doing (and PCism did) that drives/drove me nuts. It holds that if you, as a person, have a problem, it's the REST OF US who need to change our behavior to suit. Independent of context. If you have an irrational fear of the color purple, it's my job to never wear a purple shirt if there's a chance we might randomly run into each other...
Look, I'm sure people who've lost loved ones in aircraft accidents, or survived one themselves, may have a hard time not having painful flashbacks at the sight of a plane, that's human nature. And if I know that, I'm certainly not going to invite you over for movie night and show Fearless, but by the same token, we can't dedicate the FAA to making sure nothing flies within 10 miles of you just to keep from triggering you, at that point, it's YOUR problem.

Tbh, pictures of those lotus pod seeds/clusters of bubbles/those snakes whose skin have holes/the frog that gives birth through its back/etc make my skin crawl, but this ~ooooh tag it im TRIGGERED!!~ shit is so damn extra. The whole damn website needs to take a collective chill pill.

It's a real thing in that we're effectively programmed to avoid such things in part because that it indicates food that has gone bad but also it could show that stinging or biting insects could be lurking in those holes.
At best you're going to feel squicked out by them and I'll admit to being one of those people that doesn't feel comfortable around small, irregularly shaped holes. It's a feeling a little like disgust but it's by no means scary which means it's not a phobia. In fact, it's not even recognized in journals as a legitimate fear. Disgust, nausea and a desire to avoid them yes. Being triggered because you saw a lotus root? No. They're just acting fragile because it gives them something to complain and be "special" about.
Phobias are reserved for intense, irrational fears of something that has DEFINITE signs. For example, people who have acrophobia often collapse, cry, and refuse to move instead of just being like "Oh we're really high! Scary!" and crossing quickly.
What most tumblrinas describe is just... being grossed out. Unless they are talking about pomegranates and 2D circles, in which case they are just being stupid and tagging for asspats.
I tried looking at the trypophilia tag. It's mostly Shintaro Kago stuff I think, with a smattering of other edgy/horror stuff, but there were a couple of interesting posts.

This one time, some cunt kept messaging me after her friend picked a fight with me over... Steven Universe, or something. I can't remember what exactly she said, but if I recall correctly she told me at least five times that I should kill myself.
So I checked her blog and sure enough like all tumblrinas, she had a trigger list and this was on it. I sent her a picture like the ones in the OP and she then made a call-out post for me saying I intentionally gave her a panic attack.
I'll never know why people ask others to tag their bizarre triggers, especially when said people are the ones who are the most prone to chimping out at people over stupid shit like arguments about fandom. It just gives ammunition to people who are sick of your bullshit and want you to go away.

It's part belief economy ("if I respect that pomegranates give you panic attacks, then you have to respect my ridiculous gender/fetish/self diagnosis"), part trying to protect themselves from the Tumblr hivemind by making themselves appear less privileged than they are. It's no different than suddenly coming out as a tranny to net more followers and lenience.
