I think whether she was or wasn't as "bad" as she was made out to be is inconsequential. What is consequential is the way a petty pig child dispassionately attacked a woman who'd just had major surgery for not being grateful enough for a charitable act she never even did. Let’s give Norma the benefit of the doubt for a moment, just for this instance, and say this was strategically planned to happen after her passing and told Ann to leak those voice messages. If so...brilliant.

I believe fully Norma talked to Anne prior to her death to really fuck up Amber. Now do I believe Amber is abusive heck yes, we have past behaviours Destiny did not let shit slide and escaped. People think all you need to do is abuse physically when breaking someone is frankly worse.
