so theme parks and stuff!

apologies to whoever had plans to make a Theme Parks thread but never bothered, the one in deep thoughts eats and is dead because this is more of a multimedia thing and I'm tired of waiting

maybe wife and me were lucky and it was firing on all cylinders but Monsters Unleashed at Epic Universe is fucking great and is really fucking great to the point it makes me rethink the possibilities of Universal doing a ride

also the view from Cabana Bay overlooking Volcano Bay is dank af

I used to work for Dollywood. Nothing truly horrific about the gig it'self, but
1: It really grinds home the reality of living on brokie wages in a tourist trap like Sevier county
2: You'll want to kill the nearest living thing if you ever hear "Jolene" again in your lifetime
3: Snakes. Don't work grounds crew if you're afraid of em.

wife is increasingly curious about hitting Dollywood, but she wasn't really feeling the food from some videos she saw

but yeah she's relatively late to the theme park game, iirc she worked at Islands Of Adventure one summer doing hair wraps or something but never really went anywhere in the parks
eventually she got to Disney World since my mom was OG going back to World's Fair small world, I was on big thunder as a fetus, so getting into that family meant it was non-negotiable
we got married in front of Cinderella's Castle

she's legit now, a week or two ago irl buddy was over and we're discussing the parks as he still goes, she grouses how they now that Maelstrom is gone Epcot is ruined forever
buddy and me are nerds for this going back to EPCOT Center, so it we explained that means she's finally become a real theme park nerd, now that she has a ride that's gone and she'll always be mad about

my jam

Blasphemy. The cinnamon bread is the best part about Dollywood
this was some non-cinnamon bread offering, so that may help
I'll try to not bring up it's one of the locations where you can ride the drop ride that killed that ginormous kid on I-Drive but without the death mod installed

I wish Warner wasn't so shit at deal making as they have so many good IPs that could be theme park greats, yet they are trapped with Six Flags which makes theme parks like this:
They didn't even try, they just placed Looney Tunes statues and signs around a bunch of basic rides.

To think, Universal almost got a Gotham City and Metropolis area till Warner pulled out for Six Flags. The concepts look cool, being a Burton inspired take:

In better news, there are rumors from last month that Warner will rectify this and allow DC in Universal. Maybe Universal will finally give up the Marvel rights for it since you know Disney is trying desperately to screw them out of it and the Simpsons.

Cartoon Network is also wasted. Nickelodeon gets a decent Mall Theme Park, all CN ever got was a shitty hotel and I believe a Cruise, other than Six Flags using the branding for a small bit for Hanna Barbera toons. Adventure Time deserved a sick ride, it had all the iconography for one.
