She will never be allowed to. She's a gold-laying hen for the music corpos, once you reach that level of success you're basically a slave. They won't let you go. That's why I think it's way better for any musician who wants to live off their music to remain indie. Once you sell your soul for fame and money, you lose your independence.
She won't be allowed more time because of this same reason.
I hate how right you are. (:_(

The system has always been a meat grinder but it's somehow gotten even more vicious than before. We'll never get another folkmore era or anything truly introspective again because of it. I remember when people were clowning on TTPD for being her worst lyrically but compared to Showgirl, it's practically Shakespeare.

I don't know any of her albums, I've only ever heard Taylor Swift's music by chance on the radio, but this is the case with anyone that's on that level of fame and success in terms of sales. And she's probably the most famous/successful popstar of the moment, so... :/
I've never been a fan of her music (just not my thing), but I do feel bad for her. I don't think swimming in money is worth it when you don't have freedom.

Evermore and Folklore were both really good. And I thought TTPD was a strong album too. Maybe I'm in a minority there. I actively avoided all the talk around this album to see what my own take on it was without any outside influence. I just don't think it's as good as the aforementioned albums. The problem is most of the critques of her or pretty much any popular musicians work is politically charged now. If you read a big essay about Sabrina Carpenter, it's nothing to do with the quality of her music, it's just gonna be some Marxian brainrot about gender antagonisms or something. It's the same here, it always seems to come down to 'what role does Taylor Swift play in the current thing'.

That being said, I kinda get it. The billionaire football player wife status is inevitably gonna cost you relatability and edge. But if i put all that aside, and just judged it by the music...maybe it'll grow on me.

All the swifties I've met already know about the max martin technique of slicing literally every second or note of the song together to get the best results, so a song can't even tell you if Taylor or Sabrina can hold a note for 30 seconds. Plus it's always Max Martin or Dr Luke working with whoever the new musician is so the only way to connect to them is if you buy into their persona and find it relatable. Even the ones that everyone knows has the skills, like Ariana Grande, they still don't, because I guess it doesn't pay off. The persona is where they invest the time and energy to attract fans.

Which I could be bothered to feel bad about. But she didn't have to drop a turd of an album. She could have taken her billion and walked away.

Now, maybe you're talking about freedom in artistry, but that assumes she has any sort of artistic integrity. And anyone who needs to release 34 different variants of an album to boost sales has absolutely none.

I don't know if it's just freedom in artistry, or her life in general. Music corpos are insane. I wouldn't be surprised if her whole marriage with the current guy were an arranged thing for PR.
There are many claims about different popstars being MK Ultra'd. I don't have proof of anything, but there are many weird patterns that can be noticed with many of them, so I'm agnostic.

No one told her to put out a ton of album variants. I can't imagine she has no control over when that happens. Hell, I have a problem with people who whinged that she couldn't control the cameras at Arrowhead. A billion dollar famewhore has a lot more control over reality than you or I.

I think personally the whole coupling with Kelce is PR. Mostly because Swift herself comes across as cold and abnormal. Armchair psychology aside, you can't be someone that has aggressively taken over the public attention as much as Swift has so as to be inescapable that you can couple up with anyone else that's particularly normal. Kelce wants the limelight as badly as she does, probably more than he's ever really wanted her, because normal people value their privacy. She gets her All-American dream wedding because her fans love that for her; the fact that it's so perfect on paper makes it about as real to me as whatever story Jussie Smollett had during a polar vortex.

It's not that complicated. If you're that wealthy, you are so far from normal people that you're probably going to leave the fucking reservation. Rich people are weirdos.

celebrity marriages today are much like marriages were a thousand plus years ago. mostly to secure some sort of deal/partnership. the more things change the more they stay the same i guess. I doubt they'll make it to their 5th anniversary.

also this album is pretty much the same empty dreck as any other post-red album, kinda surprised it took us this long to realize it but whatever. she peaked with speak now and i will gladly die on that hill.

Same, I don’t have any feelings towards her personally, because she just isn’t thought provoking. The same source that I that outlined her sales manipulation described her music as the sonic equivalent of a Netflix special and I thought that was really clever- mass-produced, glossy, appealing to the masses. Kind of insulting to the good Netflix specials, though. From what little I’ve heard and my exposure via pop culture, I think more of Hallmark movies: good production values but hamfisted themes and very formulaic, repetitive plots. Like how many times can you write and album about your boyfriend? I guess as many times as people will buy it lol.
Pop stars don't write their own music. It's made by a team of producers and songwriters who shop them around . She might write a line and that's about it

Taylor is trying too hard to be sexy while having little to no sex appeal at all and it reflects in her music. She wants to have this classic americana picture to her but ends up looking and sounding like tacky vegas's version of americana and showbiz. The problem I have most with this album is she's taking the image of show girls, who historically come from poverty, as an aesthetic without paying any homage to the actual history of the art and culture of showgirls itself. Just overall in bad taste and tacky.

Wood is fucking embarrassing and not gonna lie, I just was bored. I wanted to like this album. But I came to the conclusion that I dont even like Taylor Swift, I just like 1989 and most of her songs before it.
