As someone who actually likes the show I can confirm their art is pretty lazy in general. They never keep proportions right for too long and there are entire blogs dedicated to pointing out how often the artists fuck up.

Is anyone even surprised by now, why Steven Universe is a magnet for the most exceptional individuals the internet has to offer? Isn't that called law of attraction?
 
I'm sort of on Zuke's side with this one, since this random user's issue with the fidget spinner comment was that Zuke was someone perpetuating ableist stereotypes by saying it. Thus igniting age old drama because fidget spinners are serious business.
 
God, that's embarrassing ... it's a shame that Zuke is getting harassed by the fanbase (although, seriously, what else are they good for at this point?), but why interact with them when you know they thrive on whining about the most pointless, innocuous shit? Plus speaking like an immature 14 year old isn't something to be proud of.

How did Zuke ruin Peridot's character though? I never watched the show so I don't know what they're complaining about, but from what I do know it seems she's stayed relatively the same. Is this still about the lapidot "controversy"? Because that was dumb as hell then and it's dumb as hell now.

Lauren Zuke made Peridot an autist stereotype on par with Sheldon Cooper, and Lauren forced her Lapis x Peridot ship under the crew's noses. When Rebecca found out, she fired Lauren.

I mean, one thing you have to keep in mind is that a lot of this is hearsay from /sug/ anons, and that place is a hot mess of angry sperging, so taking their claims with a grain of salt is advised.

All that can be confirmed is that Zuke isn't on the show anymore. (And that she rivals SU's fanbase in terms of :autism:.)

I thought the autistic fans liked Peridot as an autist? Although I haven't seen the show in so long I don't know how bad it actually got.
 
People got mad at Zuke because she implied she wrote Peridot and Lapis as a married couple, think she also posted a couple sketches. Nothing actually concrete or anything. A large part of the fandom shipped Peridot with a different Gen due to an earlier episode, and when they heard Zuke put in hints toward a different pairing. they REEEEEEEed hard over it, attacking her in Twitter and accusing her of queerbaiting as well as attacking her of the Bismuth episode. All of this happened the same time as her birthday, so she left Twitter over it. I'd imagine she quit shortly after because she was sick of the fanbase.

When people say she "ruined" Peridot, they mean "made her close friends with Lapis instead of having her be lesbians with Amythest". So if Zuke wants to post stupid shit like that to make those fans REEEEEEEE more, I'm all for it.

Oh yeah. Amethyst. I knew it was one of the gems. But like I said, haven't seen it since the Amethyst/Pearl fusion episode. The sad thing is, had Zuke pimped out the "correct" ship everyone would be praising her even if the rest of the staff didn't like it. And she's too old to care about shipping wars anyway. The SU fandom is horrible.
