The Unpopular Opinions about Fiction thread, where people discuss their unpopular opinions had another argument over whether Starship Troopers is fascist. What came after was funnier, with people discussing how to force people to engage more critically with media including adding little warnings at the start.
I recall how, during discussion of the then incoming Zootopia 2, someone had the wild take of painting reptiles as poor victims would somehow be misrepresented as hating minorities, aka the J word, because of the "reptilian menace" inanity. That idea came out of nowhere and was such a self-own that others quietly ignored it. Unfortunately, that was pretty much the idea for the movie's reptiles, painting the white tiger family as patriarchal, EEVIL monsters.
It's pretty funny how these people at the same time treat fascism as a complete backwards and moronic ideology unable of achieving anything of note and whose adoption would only lead to mass death and regression, but at the same time some sort of hydra which cannot be beaten by normal methods which can just shrug off all oposition and you have to descend into straight up physical violence to be able to stop it with rational arguments being utterly unable to refute it.
They literally make it sound like it is the end all be all of politics which is so overpowered it has to be banned to keep the game competitive.

I’d imagine slapping a “warning: may contain a heckin fascism” label on things like 40k and Starship Troopers will go about as well as the time YouTube put Wikipedia articles in the descriptions of conspiracy and conspiracy adjacent videos. I also like how SB fails the so-called "media literacy" thing by calling Starship Troopers "fascist but not really". It's not complicated: The books? Nope, it's a stratocracy. You DO NOT have to forcibly join the military at any point, even to vote (you just pay a lot instead), and even then, you can pick a non-combat role as well.

People like this treat any ideas that could possibly be considered "right wing" like it's a cognitohazard mind-virus that they need to suppress at all costs. Suppressing wrongthink and witch hunting anyone who might disagree with them is usually the final form these echo chambers usually take.
I've witnessed it myself once in another community where people shut down criticism of Assassin's Creed Shadows because criticizing the game was "right wing" apparently.
