I'm mostly cool with things as they are. I mean, there are people getting salty in threads because they don't think it's worth a thread, but it's not like this sub-forum is the only place it happens. There's plenty of Lolcow threads that have people show up to shitpost and disrupt things because they don't think the person is a lolcow. Same basic thing.

You just want another place to post Dobson tweets

Just run this board into the ground so we can have the "OwO is a Bad Supervisor" Salt thread. Then we can take this board to the lake and tell it about the rabbits while we put it out of it's misery.

In all seriousness though, the problem lies more with users not posting salt than any management issue. Maybe we should just police ourselves better and call people who actually argue in salt threads the faggots they are. Maybe have a link up on the top of every thread to Deep Thoughts reminding users to be faggots over there or something, I'unno.

You're pretty much describing the way the subforum's work
I mean... I was under the impression that the reason the rest of the subforums have this rule is because basically everyone agrees that people having slapfights shits up the threads. Sure, arguments between Kiwis is thematically appropriate to the salt mine, but that is a pretty low bar. Any run of the mill Facebook argument about Trump is thematically appropriate. But surely we also want the threads to be readable, on topic, and funny, no? Why not ban slapfights on those grounds, just like on the other forums?

I've always found them entertaining, yes. But I do agree the slapfighting to effort-content ratio is way out of wack.

but where will I reee about the all trans ghostbusters and black doctor who.

Here's my (probably dumb, gay, etc.) idea for where salt mine should go: since the best threads (trump, brexit, etc.) seem to involve the current culture wars, and most other threads have at least some political bent to them, why not make it a Culture Wars Subforum proper?

Most of the really interesting content in salt mine is implicitly/explicitly political, and the stuff that isn't is usually petty nerd shit that either barely reaches 2 pages or devolves into spergery, and could go under community watch pretty easily anyway. Not saying good salt can't be had apolitically, but people want more content like the trump thread so I say give it to them.

If we don't want to convert the entire salt mine to that we could split it into a regular salt mine and a political salt sub-subforum within it. Would be interested to hear your thoughts (male) on this @OwO What's This?

especially since you started with Tara Strong and not, say, George Takei, who has an even stronger distaste of the 45th that almost dips into terrorism here and there.
I actually started the Tara thread in Beauty Parlour, but it got moved to the salt mine and tagged with "plillar of salt."

The way I see it, starting with Tara Strong was something that just sort of happened. If and when this gets implemented, George will probably get a thread with a snap of a finger.

I think the current sentiment is there's way too many subforums already. Null himself said that Salt Mine serves its purpose as a catch-all, further reducing what belongs in Salt Mine is just gonna lead to less content. Getting rid of Salt Mine in favor of 'Culture Wars' would make it so there's no catch-all anymore.
