Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States
A couple of my friends are saying they don't even look like Pokemon anymore but I'm gonna be real with you niggas, I'm 30+ and Pokemon haven't looked like Pokemon to me since Gen 3 so this is nothing new.
The word I've been using is derpy. They look less like Pokemon and more like house pets. They kind of remind me more of Pals than Pokemon. Which isn't a good thing. Hopefully their evolutions will be good. I hope the team that made Gen 9 is still around. Gen 9 is my favorite new roster since Gen 4. I don't think they're all still the same team though given, ZA. Something between S&V and ZA changed.
On a side note, I think Palworld is ass and looks like what would happen if I asked Grok to make Digimon.
Dude have you seen Nintendo since Breath of the Wild came out? Honestly, BOTW is one of the worst things to ever happen to gaming. Every company took the wrong lesson and tried to clone it. They've been trying to clone it for nearly a decade. We now have a homogenized industry of BOTW stuff.
Graphics fags can eat shit too. Pokemon fire Red and leaf Green are two of the most downloaded games of all time and they look like ass, even for their time. Graphics don't make a game good and they never have. Kids nowadays are playing the same games I played as a kid, quite literally. They haven't embraced any of this new stuff, for various reasons, no matter how "realistic" it was.
I'm so glad I don't care about modern pokemon because if I had any embers of hope left for GF/PKMN co, I would be angry right now.
And here I thought they couldn't possibly make a set of starters where I hate ALL of them. Abandoning pixel style pokemon games was a mistake, regardless of how many quality of life changes they added to XY onwards. I genuinely can't find any positives from Wind/water, so far. The worst part is, this will still sell like hotcakes.
A lot of the fanfare for that game was boosted by Nintendo trying to sue them, otherwise everyone would have just called it AI slop after a month and been done with it. I think I played it for like 10 hours or so before getting tired of it and honestly, I can not imagine a single Pal in my head from memory, they made that little of an impact. I use AI as a tool all the time and I think the stigma of using it on creative projects is really fucking gay but I can't say it's completely unfounded because games like Palworld that feel like they have little to no human touch just kind of fucking suck. I don't think the new starters look anything like pals though, they're not generic enough.
Fun fact, in Gen 10 the NPC trainers can use [Rock Throw] at the player if they play using gender neutral pronouns or play as a girl without covering your hair.
Don’t be pedantic. Those generations had two distinctly male starters and one distinctly female starter (even then, calling Piplup female is kinda pushing it), whereas newer generations have three vaguely gender-neutral starters.
I currently don't have any kids so I wouldn't know what's big with them now, but I get no impression that Pokémon is as big for 10 y/o's today as it was for me when I was 10.
maybe its because my family is better about it, but most kids don't seem as into gaming compared to 10 years ago. the ecosystem has changed obviously where most kids just play the free crap like robolox or fortnite or rocket league or marvel rivals. if they're older they might play games on their phones.
your average 18 year old doesn't have a connection to pokemon compared to 20 years ago. you're not growing up watching pokemon cartoons every saturday. you're not seeing commercials for it everywhere, there isn't a new release every other year. they don't have nintendopower subscriptions.
its not shoved in your face, one of the great things about streaming is that both the parent and the kid can chose what they want to watch, meaning less chance of stumbling onto a new autistic obsession like you could in the days of television.
In general i know way less people in their 20s that are Nintendo freaks compared to people in their 30s. it might have a lot to do with how much the brand sucked in the 2010s, and gaming being amazing while they were kids while we were the mobile trash and battle royale generation.
It’s kind of funny watching people who haven’t touched a Pokemon game in 20+ years or have an NFT avatar losing their shit over the new starters or pining for kanto starters once again.
Well these new games look extremely lazy to say the least. Just like all the Pokémon games on the switch. What a development. And wait, was there seriously a tranny in their Pokémon showcase?
Holy shit these new starters look like shit. Like knock-off Palworld monsters. If GF were smart, they would have pocketed X (and Y) as names for this generation.
