Childhood trauma will do that. Of course it's not my place to make diagnoses and serious claims as if I know her. But as someone who relates to her experiences, and who has learned a lot of the psychological mechanisms behind it all, I wanna go out on a limb here. She was probably abused in some form or fashion as a child. Afaik, all kinds of abuse (emotional, sexual, psychological, physical etc) can cause those severe feelings of worthlessness, self-loathing, disgust towards oneself---in other words, a severely distorted (negative) self image. And I'm guessing her internet experience only exacerbated that. Really loved @brownsuagrbubbletea 's thoughts. I believe her depressive state goes back further than her time online because of that "14yo crumb" comic, and (perhaps most of all) because these things are very deep rooted... Again, I don't BELIEVE with certainty that this is the case, but I do suspect that it is possible if not probable. I wish her well... It would be good if she could just back away from the internet. Other cc's in that sphere were able to do it iirc.
That being said..... Not to be an A-hole, but I can't help remembering the many lolcows and average twitter artists who post similar sad artwork just to be edgy/get attention...

Pls forgive me for political sperging but dang...quarantine has been a disaster for the kids... Mental health epidemic, youth are now chronically online, microscopic attention spans, parasocial relationships normalized, lgbtq social contagion, etc etc. Every year we are seeing more and more of the consequences of that.
