@creaturestorm You are marathon’s strongest soldier. How much eye damage did you accrue from walking countless tranny nigger battlefields?
Enough to need corrective lenses, but you’d be suprised how much this game has resonated with black gamers and chuds. women and gays got filtered pretty hard.

Reminds me of yugioh.

Sony would've had just as much success making a new studio and staffing it with random people from the industry.
Honestly I think they would have seen much more success. If Marathon had cost half as much (or less! Bungie is well known at this point for mismanaging money to almost comical degrees) and was produced by competent but unknown devs, they may have even recouped their initial investment even if it had ended up flopping as a live service.

Marathon needed to be the little side project that got entirely funded by big brother Destiny 2. It shouldn’t of gotten a shoe string budget for what was actually delivered.

I had once assumed that they had a years worth of content already planned and ready to launch. It's looking like we wont get another map until s4, nearly a year after release.

They ain’t got shit. I would love to know where all that money went.

Then you have the casuals who have gone full doomer and have given up entirely. Begging and pleading for a fully dedicated PvE mode, making this game even more schizophrenic than it already is.

There are some begging for solo Cryo so they can rat around the map, hoping to avoid this game they’ve designed for no life’s.
A few hours after he posted this, they announced a PvE cryo run. But they manage to make everyone unhappy at the same time, because they aren't even giving players loot for this. They end up with tokens they can turn in for stuff, that will almost certainly be the kind of blue-tier stuff that will feel okay to neat depending on how new they are, but that kind of gear won't help the newbs survive longer against purple and gold-geared sweats in pvp.

Watching people piss and shit themselves over it has been a real blast.

You could hand them gold-tier loot and they'd still get rolled. Once the bubble grenades and Mizzys start flying, it's a different level of sweat.

If you could walk out of 'Shitter's Cryo' with the loot then sweats would be full gold tier gear every match you ever saw them in. The game would be absolutely fucked.

a bit of a rant here, but...

This game isn't built for people who refuse to learn from mistakes. You don't really start having fun until you accept your own shortcomings, and most people don't want that kind of accountability in a video game. The new Cryo will help the minority of players who do want to get better, that's what it's for.

Honestly, this game... It's not that complicated. Pay attention to your spawn, remember it, prioritize killing over looting and doing PvE, and stick together.

That's basically it. Map knowledge, builds, stats, and loot all come naturally after that. They really aren't even all that important comparatively.

Unlike Tarkov, you don't lose fights because you brought the wrong ammo, the wrong optic, or the wrong meds. There are no gun jams, no hidden pit traps, and very little RNG.

Just show up, play with the right mindset, and you'll keep progressing whether you die or exfil.

I should clarify, it's not that I think they'd make something good, it's just that being more successful than Marathon is that low of a bar.

It puts the chart posts on its skin or else it gets the hose again

We have a sub-10k peak in the last 24 hours!

Worth noting, this actually happened very briefly before. This Monday actually just barely spent the whole day south of the fifth digit.

What’s concerning is that once they levelled out, Thursday was actually when the numbers would start to pick up for the weekend. That might mean we’re falling surprisingly steeply this week, and will only see the full effects come monday.

Wow! I thought it would stay above 10k today. I think what we are seeing is a combination of (1) people exhausting the new content for the season; and (2) because there is no ELO matchmaking, sweats first wipe out everyone who tries to do cryo, then outpost, then dire marsh, then perimeter. they get paired with newer and newer players as the middle tiers quit. as they encounter worse players, they burn out and quit quicker so the player count should collapse until 1k-5k sweats and a small rotating cast of hapless noobs are all that's left; and (3) sweats that dominate slowly get bored of the game and drift off and do something else. or get matched against each other and burn out as they do because the game is only fun if you're crushing people a lot of the time. we might see a spike when the pve cryo mode comes out in july that will follow the usual tapering off after tha

Various luxury car manufacturers, last I checked.
Probably also up noses.

You know, I legit do not understand why so many people are reluctant to look at games like Deep Rock Galactic and go "Hey, maybe we should make a fun PvE killfest for you and your friends to enjoy and chill in", especially after Overkill completely shat the bed with Payday 3 and Arrowhead with Helldivers 2. Market's wide open.

Man I miss playing with this black unc back when the game first dropped, he was so fucking cool but he sucked ass man. He would just randomly be on facetime with his kids and not mute his mic. It was so awesome and might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. He hasn't logged on for season 2 though.... </3

All this chat I'm seeing about the devs making hasty changes on the fly is giving me flashbacks to Anthem, where Bioware focused on literally everything but what the remaining players were actually asking for (loot that made the handful of endgame activities actually worth running).

The grifters making money off the sorry state of things are fake news retards. Bungie is quickly and constantly changing the game, usually for the better. A lot of the bad changes, imo, come entirely from the community itself, talking pve modes and shotgun nerfs. Overall it’s been good, this is typically what people want to see from a developer.

The biggest changes really aren’t changes…

Imagine if halo 7 came out and was doing poorly and then some one like Asmongold made a video about how they are desperately trying to revamp the game as some kind of replacement for FIFA in some sort of attempt to appeal to casuals in the 3rd world.

Then you sit down to play the football mode and it’s just Grifball.

This is S2 so far in a nutshell. There really is nothing new happening, just remixed content. S3 is going to be more remixed content. What ever PvE nonsense they’ve been cooking up we won’t see until S4 I think.

I’m surprised the game is still around 10k players, but you are right though they aren’t making content for those who are still playing. I think s4 will be the big reveal of all the shit we didn’t ask for and will also be the end of the game in its entirety.

There was a leak on 4chan a few weeks back about what’s going to happen next and so far a lot of it is proving true. If that leak isn’t bullshit the revamp for the game will be a rogue lite pve shooter, the extraction shooter stuff will run along side it. The current Cryo changes line up with that.

I’m not playing that.

I don't think it ultimately matters. It's pretty clear there's not a lot of people who wanted this Marathon of theirs in the first place. Bad decisions started long ago and there's no righting this ship.

Marathon is a bastard child of a game that got passed around to different project leads as they came and went and it’s been a comedy of errors since it launched, which is a damn shame cause there’s a pretty fun shooter buried under all the bullshit

With the way things are headed I agree, but that doesn’t change what is currently happening with development and YouTube pan handlers desperate for ad revenue.

It’s a strange grift to go from complaining how a developer never does anything to change their game for the better to then doom posting about how a developer is listening to its players feed back and is working to right the ship.

So not just the Destiny team but ppl on Marathon are getting axed as well. Sounds like they’re just gonna look at the books and slash everything to the bone that can be. Here’s to Bungies future as small upstart development team on a shoe string budget
