I remember this now, I used to play it quite a bit when I had a squad in D2. I thought it was a fun mode, even though I instantly got dusted every time I invaded the other team.
Most people did. I remember launch Gambit was all rockets or linear fusions. They would blast your ass before you could even sneak up on the team. Gambit has always been fun, just a little stale because they’re not as much dynamism as a traditional PVP mode, because when you invade it’s a 1v4, either you smoke the team because they suck or you get your shit rocked and run back to help your team.

So their plan was to take this mode that nobody played out of a free game and stick it into a $40 one with nothing else to do, slap an ancient IP on the front and it would sell 12 million copies?
that's how the pitch sales was, yes.
and sony was incredibly retarded to fall for that as they were chasing the lightning with their bottles in hopes to catch one.

pvp always has the nolifers that memorize a lot of shit, including the invader spawns in gambit.
still it was a pvpve? nope, if you had a good invader that knew when to strike the other team would lose, in short: solos always get pounded by premades, it's the entire trial of osiris/competitive shit too but osiris is even worse with people doing ddos and shit.
worse of all was the shit payout, especially for losing teams.

I realized that when I tried the regular PVP and got wiped out even when I got the drop and emptied entire clips into the opponent. For the sake of my controller I went back to doing PVE events.

Is D2 considered a twitch-shooter like CoD? I think that style of PVP is simply not for me; I long for the circle strafing of Quake and Unreal Tournament, or the weirdo modes Timesplitters 2 had.

Weapons are so nuked in the crucible and the balancing is so bad that you can really only use what’s meta. And don’t even try using abilities you think are cool, even my titans bonk hammer does literally no damage.

I had heard that outpost had all the loot stripped from it and it was basically like running perimeter, the noob map.

Outpost in S1 was a map where you brought your best gear out to play, the risk to reward ratio was definitely worth it. You would also not run this map with out a team or you'd run it solo, pugs meant you were wasting your time and would get murdered.

I loaded in with a free kit, in trios with fills. We wiped the lobby of grey and blue kits. We looted the map and did the PvE, did the locked rooms, we did everything. I left perimeter with 15k in loot. Most of that loot came from the players we killed.

To put this into perspective, a store bought blue kit costs 12.5k.

9+ players took the time to strap on a kit, sit in a queue, fight, and be killed, all for the chance at an affordable budget load out.

Looking like there is no way to actually obtain the fun gear with out turning this game into a full time job. The only place you'd want to use that gear is Cryo, where you will lose it to a sweatier person. No other map has value. Maybe Night Diremarsh is still decent, i doubt it.

I was doing some reading through community discords, forums, Reddit, what ever.

holy fuck I’m so mad.

These dumb fucks who cried about the ‘ruined loot economy’ because the streamer man told them it was bad for the game are now reaping what they sowed.

So with the massive loot nerfs, the entire player economy has shifted to Cryo Archive. A map that these retards have never stepped foot into because they were too scared and guess what??? Fucking finally, these retarded ass dog dad gamers have gotten a taste of how they have ruined the game.

Recon, a shell that they all cried about being weak and needing buffs until it got them is now seen for what it is. A meta warping wall hacker.

Shotguns, no longer seen as the unfun meta warping tool, but are now seen as absolutely necessary in order to actually play the map. People are begging for the return of the WSTR, My favorite weapon in the game which was promptly destroyed by these people and really put a dampener on how much I enjoyed the game, and they just now mourn the loss of it.

Same as bubble shields which were nerfed into purple rarity, people now realize you need these to compete, but unless you’re playing this game for a living you’ll never get your hands on enough of them to play cryo for a weekend.

Then you have the casuals who have gone full doomer and have given up entirely. Begging and pleading for a fully dedicated PvE mode, making this game even more schizophrenic than it already is.

There are some begging for solo Cryo so they can rat around the map, hoping to avoid this game they’ve designed for no life’s.

PVE mode beggers in Extraction games not balanced around them are absolutely fucking retarded.

ARC babby lobbies are some of the most boring, toothless, threatless ventures imaginable.

dude the only fun thing to do in arc once you've gone through the loop is spawn in one of them lobbies and start killing people that wander away from the group. they hunt you in local chat while you hide in the shadows, it's like multiplayer splinter cell

Skeleton crew left for Marathon, shitcan 60% of the studio, there is really no play outside of this predicament. There will be Destiny 3 or there will not be Destiny 3, but what I'm pretty sure is that you don't need 40% of the studio to run neon clown diveschool sim, especially with it being only and exclusively 1 type of gameplay, which has been said here before earlier, so maybe we get another playstation based bungie product in the near future? Not necessarily Destiny, maybe the creators of halo can do something else that would drive people to the platform but I find it highly improbable, best case scenario would be another flop because it would be hilarious and completely relegated and limited to the Playstation environment but my point stands, even if you reduce to more than half, that's a shit ton of people farting the chair and gloating about AGILE ceremonies I'm pretty sure there's going to be resource relocation to different Sony projects, maybe not even stemming from bungie, maybe we get another brainless shooter from "Playstation studios" with help from Bongoloids.

Sony would've had just as much success making a new studio and staffing it with random people from the industry. They won't see any return on the money invested into acquiring and running Bungie... staffed more or less with random people from the industry.
Some people really overestimate brand's worth. And at the end of the day, their only relevant franchise is Destiny, which they in all their wisdom canned.

Looks like we're officially back to consistent 10k averages. Season 2 and the free week did fuck all.

They're fucked. If Destiny 3 is off the table, then unironically they might be better doing layoffs like they currently plan to but put the employees back into Destiny 2 instead of Marathon and hopefully get some higher profit margins from the lower studio costs, but either way I think they might just be screwed.

Anyone still working at Bungie either knows they'll never get hired anywhere else and are enjoying the paychecks while they last or-

Actually that's the only reason I can think of to still be there.

i mean if you believe the leaks, they made a bunch of projects to inflate bungie net worth for sony, it was intentional since, well, halo IP not being a part of bungie anymore and all, destiny is the only thing they have left but who knows how petty sony will be with the IP?

there's always gearbox for gaynigger faggotry but you have to endure randy.
i'd say it is a fitting punishment.

They're screwed.

It doesn't matter the direction they're going into (Destiny 2 revival, Marathon, Destiny 3, or another new IP) the Bungie brand loyalty has been damaged beyond repair with this cascade of failures. I don't think anyone sees "Bungie" and has good feelings towards anything they released/will release anymore.

With the lack of output they have had, there have been hundreds upon hundreds people who have just been collecting paychecks for many many years.

Rapidly these dead weight employees are running out of places to hang out and get paid for doing next to nothing.
