L.L. Bean, Ralph Lauren, Lands End, some Burberry, Tom Ford, etc. Those brands will make your “decent quality essentials”. Go for solids and traditional patterns. Accessorize with hats, thick minimalist belts, delicate jewelry. As far as shape goes, make sure you look for a fitted waist. Don’t go over sized/flowy everywhere, make sure you have some deliberate structure. Balance is key.
I really hate to say it - but if you aren't collecting for name brands/don't mind bootlegs (which often can be of equal or even better quality to real figures - like they'll fix flaws in original figures) just stick to Aliexpress or Temu. Less tariffs, even in the EU, due to whatever ChiCom loophole they use for shipping. & many sellers dedicated to kawaii figures.
More or less. Cannot get any that actually fit me. I have been looking for a pair of gardening trousers, with reinforced knees, and every single one I try is 20cm too long while having such a short rise that they’re unwearable. Also cannot find hiking trousers. Same issue - rise is obscenely low, legs are too long.
Pretty much all the scandi brands. They’re all this kind of oversized menswear type stuff. I hate it because I’m short, but if you’re built like that it looks different (better.) brands: I know remain, and samsøe o samsøe do those kind of long slim blazers and wide trousers.
It's either bike shorts or a skirt/dress for me now. I can't find pants that look good on me and fit- there is more than 20cm of difference between my waist and hips and even when I put on pants that barely go through my hips- they will always stick out on the waist. It's so much easier to just put on a skirt- and much more stylish too!
I feel like this shouldn’t be an issue, and the fact it clearly is in this day and age is not a good thing ….19 inches used to be the standard for sewing patterns in the fifties.
I should've been more precise, but I meant the difference between my waist circumference and hips circumference, not how far apart they're spaced from each other. I do agree however with this being an issue, and that older sewing patterns are more skinny people friendly. I could sew those clothes myself, but I'd very much enjoy an option of getting clothes that fit

No purse sadly will ever match everything. My day to day when out actually shopping where I'm using my hands is a black mini fashion backpack. I havea shit ton of purses but purses are just for fashion if you get pain from crossbody/shoulder straps.
I’m pretty sure my dominant arm is more muscular than my non dominant arm from carrying a handbag on my elbow all the time. So much stuff is required to leave the house and as the purse carrier it’s like an unspoken rule that my husband and kids are always shoving things in my bag.
Exactly. I myself shove everything i need into my purse, wipes, chapstick, sunglasses, wallet, snacks etc. The backpack is a must. I see women and even fathers now using backpack diaper bags as sort of a catchall now, but mini backpacks (not loungefly shit) do the job. There are many brands like Guess etc that makes nice ones, but I prefer the more bendy soft nylon type than the hard polyleather kind (they get heavy)
It is ridiculous. I am wearing an xs sized dress from a European brand and it’s loose on me. I am petite (as in short) but I am not thin (weight is low-middle of normal for my height and I’m middle aged.) At least it has a waist, yet mysteriously despite being not petite it’s still at least 4cm above where a waist would be, nothing has a shape any more
I know Gen X gets mocked for cross body bags but you cannot beat a cross body or a little backpack for the kids plus day out scenario. Look after your back!
