If you're able to ditch the spite you can achieve the American dream.

Have you never touched grass? White or not...well actually white people are more expected to fall for the BS but either way people expect you to grind to a "respectable" position through some bs means.

College should be paid off by taxes (fuck Reagan) and nobody should have to go to war just for a decent life.
Liberals push college autist. I'm glad you have a good job, nothing in the world wrong with that.

After this raise I will make $50k a year, which is considered "poverty" but it works for me. Apartment rents are down where I am so I can get one of my own, but I don't mind living with roommates for a bit.
How do you even cover your rent in a college town? Especially before the raise.

might be something I would look into doing if my job goes down the shitter thanks to AI

also wouldn't have to interact with people much which is awesome.

I... don't live in the college town

BUT

I could probably find a cheap room for rent here if I wanted
So you work at a state college as a janitor, but do not live in the college town itself. You don't own a car and instead rely on public transit. I struggle to place you anywhere with a university and good public transit where 40k a year doesn't drive you into immediate homelessness.

Do you live with your parents?

You sound like you never realized that working a steady job will earn you a paycheck. Congrats on the money, save some and do something useful with it.
This gets me a good paycheck and almost no stress. I worked as a line cook for fucking $10 an hour. Working every weekend, no vacations, crappy healthcare. Was told I would need to get a bachelor's degree to escape the restaurant industry.

Roommates. But I've seen apartments as low as $800 a month

Glad you proved that idiot wrong. The kitchen work is a great way to burn the candle at both ends.

How does it imply 6 figures? All I said was my annual pay was going up by $10k a year.
No: you said "$10k a month," which is 12x $10k/ year. (A $10k/ month raise would mean a $144k/ year raise, so that's why they said 6 figures.)

Either way, good on you.
