How do men make friends as adults?

I found sports to be a good way of meeting new guy pals. I generally find it a more positive avenue of meeting new friends. In the past a lot of my social time was spent partying, gigs and more subcultural stuff. Which is fun but when you factor in booze, drugs and people in those scenes being fucked in the head, it's not always a positive outlet.

Sports made me spend time with different walks of life and meet different people. I meet some really solid people who had a positive people impact on my life.
Because I'm a weirdo, I find it strange sometimes that people want to be friends with me or invite me to things, especially when I've put little effort into the interaction.

On the flip side, you have to deal with people wanting to talk about normie shit to you and want you to engage in some of the lowest forms of banter. I think sometimes these people just never get out of the house.

I'm also fortunate as I've got some male friends who I grew up with who are fairly reliable dudes.

I just can't connect with others and they always forget me; a lot of things that are obvious to others never occur to me and I don't know how to do.
