I got bangs again for the first time in a long time and didn't immediately regret it. Not looking forward to figuring out how to style them every day though.

I desperately need new shampoo and conditioner (and anything else) recs for fine, low porosity white girl curls. My hair isn't as curly as it was when I was younger and I would like for it to be curlier, but I already know CG doesn't work for me. I used the Shea Moisture Jamaican black castor oil shampoo/conditioner for a long time but my hair doesn't seem to like it as much anymore. My hair doesn't like protein - fine hair supposedly does but low-porosity hair doesn't so I guess the porosity takes precedence? Figuring this shit out before spending a ton of money on trial and error is a pain.

This is random I know, but what's the best cheapo shampoo for hair that sticks up and does not cooperate with brushes?

Like there's a part that's angled and you want it uniform with the rest so you don't looke like a silly cartoon. I just used water for the longest time but I'm getting sick of it.

International finance is using harsh detergents so they can strip your hair and sell you other products to mitigate the damage.

Look at what AI says about who owns Pantene:

Pantene is owned by the American multinational consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble (P&G), a large company that owns many household brands and is traded publicly, with major shareholders including Vanguard, BlackRock, and State Street Global Advisors. P&G acquired the brand in 1985, growing it from its European origins.
  • Parent Company: The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G).
  • Industry: Consumer Goods (Beauty, Grooming, Fabric & Home Care, etc.).
  • Key Investors: The Vanguard Group, BlackRock, and State Street Global Advisors are among its largest shareholders.
  • Other P&G Brands: Pantene sits alongside other P&G brands like Tide, Gillette, Head & Shoulders, and Olay.

But is there a solution? Yes. Yes there is.
You can approximate something similar to a Japanese head spa with hot water and self preening
The difference you'll notice once your hair adjusts after 3-4 weeks, are absolutely insane.
But there's actual science behind this, detergents have been shown to strip the hair follicle of its diameter.
And everyone knows that women want you to have hair with diameter, so it looks lush and full.

Black people need not apply

I like the curl talk nym line. I found it really gentle and it made my hair seem curlier.

I need tips: I have greasy hair (long) and an appointment tomorrow, how can I make it not look like total garbage?
A defrizzing cream helps, right after bath and a small amount (size of a bean) as a combing cream before heading out

I really need to get a good one, it's around 40C here and my hair is busted to shit

I changed up my hair-washing routine through my mom's suggestion and honestly my hair feels fine and fresh, less greasy than before! Considering getting it cut though since it's getting super long, what do you think?

Anyone here wear wigs/laces? Or is there a specific thread for this?

I like to keep my natural hair in a pixie cut, but sometimes I feel like wearing other hairstyles. Wigs and laces seems like a fun way to play with that, but I'm afraid it will look too fake.

Taking Briogeo Destined for Density because everyone has injected in me the fear of the Ludwig reaper. I like the results but I should've gone for a leave-in conditioner.

Has anyone else tried it?

Any girlies try the Abbey Yung method? I've been doing it for the past few weeks and have noticed a big difference for my very fine, medium density hair. L'Oreal Elvive Collagen Lifter is by far the best shampoo and conditioner set I've tried, as previous volumising shampoos have dried out my hair massively. I combine this on wash days with a Charles Worthington volume mousse, OGX Coconut Miracle hair oil, OGX bond repair protein spray, OGX Pro-growth peptide serum and L'Oreal Glycolic Gloss Serum. I wash my hair every second day now, so on non-wash days I use a volumising dry shampoo and other volume/texture sprays with some heat styling if needed to keep its shape. I've been in a lifelong battle with my hair but this is the first routine that really works for me and has me falling back in love with haircare again.

I don't know what I did a week ago but I did my daily hair routine and it was the SOFTEST, lightweight, and most healthiest feeling ever. I tried recreating that feeling again and it hasn't happened. I really don't know what I did differently that made such a difference and it kinda sucks because I do rotate around 4 different shampoos. I tried finishing a shower with cold water, I tried starting the blow dry with no heat, I tried keeping my hair in a towel for a few more minutes, I tried waiting to blow dry with my hair out of the towel for a few more minutes. I got a little close with starting with no heat but it has not felt nowhere near as silky soft. This sucks lol.

for shampoo buy something with Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate as main cleaning agent.
for conditioner, don't buy black people products, they're for way thicker hair. buy something like the Garnier banana food mask or even conditioners for babies or toddler. look for glycerin in the main ingredient list

I have fine, loosely curly hair. I am currently feeling very frustrated with styling my hair. I have finally figured out how to get fantastic spirals that won't fall out when my hair dries, BUT it takes minimum 2 hours for the full guaranteed results and I can't be bothered 99% of the time. Like, if I'm going to a fancy event on the weekend, sure, but for work on a weekday, no way am I waking up early just so my curls look good.

So basically I have been wearing my hair wavy/straight-ish while growing it out long again after keeping it shoulder length for several years.

I could really use some conditioner recommendations that are:
-lightweight
-unscented/don't provoke my fragrance allergies (florals are the worst)
-not ridiculously expensive (but doesn't need to be cheap)
-enhances curls (not "smoothing")

I have tried a bunch of "lightweight" conditioners over the last few months and I am not really liking the results, mostly because they are loosening my curl pattern although they have all been okay in the conditioning/moisturizing aspect.

I could also use recommendations for good moisturizing deep treatments without protein that are unscented/no added fragrance.

The parts of my routine that I am happy with:

Shampoo: Kinky Curly Come Clean (long-time favorite)
Conditioner: ???
Leave-in: I rarely use a leave-in but Kinky Curly Knot Today is wonderful for fine hair and even though I don't currently own a bottle, it's a holy grail product and something I will definitely purchase again when my hair is longer and needs detangling help.
Stylers:
Curl Keeper Original Wet Styler (unscented)- promotes clumping and anti-frizz but not enough hold on it's own
Jessicurl Spiralicious Gel is my favorite strong hold gel but I have tried others that I like too, Curlsmith (unscented) and Curls Goddess Botanical gel.
Protein treatment: Minimalist Maleic Bond Repair (works WAY better for me than K-18 and a lot cheaper).
Hair Spray: Haven't found one I love yet but hair spray on damp hair has helped a lot with curl retention after my hair dries and helps with frizz.

I usually only wash my hair with shampoo once a week, usually will either do a conditioner-only wash or water-only wash once or twice in between shampooings. I will oil my hair (focused on the bottom half) with argan oil or a blend pretty heavily the day before I shampoo and keep it in a bun until I wash it. Sometimes I also will very lightly oil the ends after washes to help flyaways.

Overall I am happy with the health of my hair and scalp but not with my curl formation.

Some of the conditioners I have tried recently:
Jessicurl Too Shea - too heavy, the shea butter builds up after awhile.
Jessicurl Aloeba Daily - I used this for a long time but I think it's too heavy as well.
Hairitage Down to the Basics - it's okay but too heavy. Might be discontinued too.
CeraVe Gentle Hydrating Conditioner - smooths out my curl pattern and too lightweight.
Honest Company Silicon Free Conditioner - Really good except it makes my hair very straight and I go through the bottle too fast. Probably will re-buy this at some point specifically for times when I want straight hair.
Curly conditioners marketed towards African hair are almost always too heavy or too scented for me to use (usually both).

Also, my hair isn't chemically processed at all right now, so it's fairly low porosity and I have tried hair steaming and other methods of adding extra moisture, but haven't had amazing results. I can't do protein treatments too often because my hair is not that damaged but I am looking for better options for moisturizing deep treatments. (Scents are harder to avoid in this category I have noticed).

General Full Routine:
Oil hair day or two before shampoo
Shampoo (usually just once, depends on build-up)
Conditioner (squish to condish for a few minutes to help clumps)
Detangle hair while wet
Add curl enhancer & brush through
Add hard hold gel & brush through
Use styling brush & then scrunch ends
Remove water by scrunching ends with microfiber towel
Scrunch in additional gel/mousse
Air Dry (usually) or Diffuse blow dry part way
Hair spray
Diffuse blow dry or air dry the rest of the way
Scrunch out the hard cast once fully dry, often using a tiny amount of hair oil to add shine and prevent frizz.
Additional hair spray

General Half-assed Routine:
Shampoo
Conditioner
Detangle
Add styler to prevent frizz
Air Dry
Ask myself if I'm SURE my hair is curly.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Gorls, has your terminal length changed as you aged? Mine used to be around mid-thigh a number of years ago, but now my hair seems to be pretty content at collarbone... which is very convenient, since that's the max I want it nowadays, but it's still kind of weird. My wallet appreciates how far apart I can space haircuts now, at least.

Also, ten thumbs up for the Elvive line. If you like Kerastase but don't love the price (or fragrance; I was devastated when I became allergic to it), you should 1000% try it. I think I was using the humidifying line (I or II, orange cap), and the volumizing Elvive gives me the same feeling and softness, if not slightly better.

your hair sounds exactly like mine. No fucking joke, I was struggling to find a shampoo I enjoyed until I decided to try Head and shoulders silky smooth. It gets the greasy feeling off my roots but doesn't strip my ends, granted I have hard water But it's a fucking miracle. I used to always think it was going to be too harsh but it's literally my holy grail. I have also really been enjoying the L'Oreal dream lengths conditioner, It's got amodimethicone. for days I don't style my hair I like to use flaxseed gel as well. there's nothing like it

by chance do you think you zoned out and shampooed twice? I have better results when I shampoo twice

Anyone else cut off their split ends one by one? It borders into body focused repetitive behavior for me if I am stressed, but once I see them I can’t leave them alone

Me, a moid, needs serious hair care advice.
I have a mane of beautifal hair, thick, course and wavy. I am also middle age and have more hair than most guys my age. My hair is one of my best points, I refuse to keep it cut short, military style. I like my hair, why would I want to keep my head almost shaved. Medium lenght at most, but most of the time touching my collar. At this length it starts to curl. My hair doesnt get long, its gets big.

How do I make it behave? What are good hair styles for my type of hair. What type of product should I use? Brushing habits?

does anyone know a good hair product that can work for my frizzy hair? It always frizzys up and constantly goes out making it look like a messy bedhead straight hair and my hair is in layers so that doesnt help. It gets worse in the sun since i sweat alot. Also my hair is relaxed n i straighten it like everyday So thats definetly a big problem that i caused to it I just need some tips onto how to get it pin straight again
Late as hell, but I do have the same frizz problem. I'm using Daviness LOVE Smoothing shampoo, LOVE Smoothing hair mask and a few dots of Daviness OI Oil on dry hair in the morning. That usually keeps the frizz at bay

I will be the first shill this since no one else has mentioned them: Davines.
I thought it was my hands that wrote this message at first. The OI series both smells divine and works wonders. I will forever be a Daviness shill

1 part honey, 1 part aloe, 4 parts conditioner, mix it together and heat it in a bowl in a pot of hot water. Wet your hair and comb it over to the front. Squish the heated conditioner mixture into your hair and let it sit for as long as you can bear, the longer the better, then rinse it out, no shampoo. I put on a shower cap and go read in the hot tub for half an hour or so, but you could even leave it overnight if you want.
What works for one person may not work for another, but this DIY hair mask works quite well for me.

Been reading the last couple of pages regarding various struggles, products, etc. and I am so glad to be done with trying (including a LOT of effort, money, and babying) to get my fine thin hair long. Now that I am firmly in menopause, with a frozen shoulder to boot, I got a chop,

It's not *quite* what I was after, but am returning in about a week to get more taken off - I'm thinking of a cut like Tabatha from the reality show but with a less deep side part and a bit longer on top. We have the same haircolor as well as slim/tall build, and it would be so nice to only have to worry about bleach overlap on the longer sections.

eta: Looked at the Japanese scalp spa linked above - I remember a video when Sofia Nygaard went to one, her results were mixed iirc.
