Nexus Anima doesn't want the genshin/hsr crowd, they want the TFT/pokemon/cozy/hypercasual crowd which is huge enough to sustain itself. There is still a lack for a AAA budget monster tamer gacha (the pokemon ones are super lazy) and hoyo wants to get there first.
Note how they previously showed a lot of gameplay unrelated to combat, like controling the mons in races and stuff. There is also no pvp whatsoever which might be the best and worst thing about it. Of course, it will depend on how the monetization and bulk of the content is like.
I assume hoyo wants to make a low maintenance auto battler like star rail (yea i said it) but star rail is a COMBAT video game. Everything you do goes back to combat. The endgame is the hardest combat. You roll new stronger units so you can fight new stronger enemies.
Did hoyo make it more combat focused so you can roll for OP masters and have it be separate from mon banner? Maybe they're still thinking this shit over as it goes. The core combat shifted to be more active and i didn't see any MC customization so that might be dead (apparently these two are the MCs)
(finally, blonde march 7 and caelus)
according to this leak sub (that is much larger than the HNA sub) these are the characters so far
She used to have that pudding dog mon but they gave her a digimon cat version of her own fire form. I'm gonna take a humble guess and assume it will evolve and get a bigger sword.
It's funny how some of these mons seem designed as pokemon versions of their human master when usually it's unrelated or the reverse. Without context you would think Blade is cosplaying his own dog whose named is literally "Bladehound" (or maybe blade named him that and he is just really really lazy).

I say, someone who knows fuck all about the character other than she's apparently a lesbo and started MHY's affection for women with white hair and amber eyes.
Was the latest AQ meant to have disturbingly heavy gay subtext between Alhaitham and Kaveh? That made me uncomfortable, mainly because people are going to be stupid about it
Or maybe my knowledge of how these fandoms operate have completely corrupted my view of things
Genshin has this neat little quality of life feature that makes it possible to turn off voicelines during the middle of a quest. Whenever the shitty bantering starts it's a perfect "shut up faggots" button.
