Or maybe my knowledge of how these fandoms operate have completely corrupted my view of things
I remember when they wouldn't shut up about Hoyo "confirming" Beidou and Ningguang being lesbians because of that one Lantern Rite where they talked and "rainbow" fireworks were shown in the background.

I get where you're coming from. At some point the line blurs and a fellow honestly can't tell sometimes.

How has the new ToA rotation been? I haven't started middle tower yet but I heard that total HP of the tower went up by 40% (lol) from 7m to 10m HP and people have been complaining about it on Reddit.
I have skill issues, so I haven't been able to clear ToA and WhiWa for a while, but they do feel more sluggish to go through, especially when you don't have the flavor of the month.

MAN its such a fucking nightmare trying to find all shit for Wuwa so i can roll on collab (its bs how it uses separate resource since i have like 80 golden balls but those are worth nothing in collab) i got Lucy to c1 and got her sig and now im trying to get Rebeccas sig and then will try to get her to c1 any tips ?
(im tired of going around the map looking for chests with that scanner)

Holograms, ToA, WhiWa, the other boss thing that you unlock with WhiWa, achievement hunting, unopened chests.

So Pokemon Honkai Version got a fuckton of updates and new gameplay footage. And it's open for beta testing.
This looks.....hm. Like, the exploration kinda fun but idk, being that it's urban with a bunch of side stuff, it's probably GTA: Cerulean Vice City. That's the vibe I get. The battle system looks so fucking boring though. Everything about that looks so bad.

Anyway, there's a teaser for the Pokémon evolutions as well.
I cannot even begin to imagine what the gacha for this is for. Like is it for the Pokémon and the trainer, and you can't evolve them unless you pull dupes or something?

But that aside, new Pokemon!

Oh hi, Yamper.
1782315238335.png
Overdesigned pink Dragonair. Even its name sounds like it wants to ape Dragonair.

Babushkabat. I know it's meant to be a rose, but it still looks like a babushka. So Babushkabat.
1782315350573.png
I will admit, this snake is cute.
1782315436833.png
I like the turtoise too.
1782315482421.png
Lol.
1782315580062.png
Oh hey look, it's me every day after work.

We also got more Pokemom trainers.
1782315645007.png
Like Skirk!
1782315719314.png
And Luocha!
1782315756564.png
And...Acheron?

Edit: I saw they changed the design of the ink pony,
1782316751250.png
This is the old version.
1782316874981.png
It's not overdesigned, but it didn't need the gold jewelry. I liked the old version more.
It also got evolutions.

They are alright.

Wonder if Nintendo will go after their asses like they did for Palworld.

In R199 stuff, I'll take my P3 Flutterpage as a sign to save for Enigma and forget about Ramona. This was also kinda nice:

In Reverse, when a character has their birthday, you get a billboard to put on your wilderness as a decoration. I'm glad they didn't forget about the collab characters.

Perhaps?? Granted, some Palmons were straight-up recolors of actual Pokémon.

Yamper and his vlogger cousin over here might have some slight deniability.

Same for Dragonair, but it does feel like someone took the shiny form and cranked up the design with some Jellicent slapped on top.

The masters are 4 or 5* so that's definitely a banner type right there. The pokemon gacha game is master + mon banner so it's possible hoyo will copy that but they might make mon separate (we see blade card but not his mon) or some kind of weapon banner. Evolution will probably be digimon rules and not be permanent, only a current battle thing, maybe even story locked.

Call me cynical but i expect to also have a banner for player cosmetics like miliastra (did you know it costs exclusively 30 dollars to do a 10 pull in miliastra's 5* dress banner?).

Unrelated but i think they changed the main gameplay pretty drastically, i dont remember those player cards at the bottom. Originally it looked like this.

1782322464460.png

The master was just a chibi at the corner who threw a buff when the match (round?) started. I think it also buffs their mon but you could swap the master faster. I heard a lot of people found this combat boring and lazy (which is ironically since that's how autochess works).

Now you have these weird stuff on the corner and the master cards recharging over time.

1782322625375.png (guys... i think that pedestal is for blade. A weapon maybe?)

The cards are like honkai ultimates, you tap, time stops, you get animation and a big attack. This means the game is becomes more about timing those skills at the right time. This is why i think hoyo will make master banners separate, you can use those without the mons.

And while i get the gameplay sense, i find bizarre that hoyo really decided to have the masters actively participate in battle. It's kinda jarring to have a hyper cutesy auto battle and suddendly Blade steps in and stabs a puppy.

The main point of confusion for me is that going by the aesthetic, Mihoyo intends for this to be a mass appeal game that will overlap with the same audiences that play Genshin and HSR (as opposed to ZZZ which differentiated itself and does not have as much overlap). But those audiences are already tapped out paying at least one $15 monthly sub, doing dailies, and being heavily pressured to buy $200 in yearly top ups to buy the 3 premium teams and constellations/eidolons and weapons for Imaginarium Theater or Anomaly Arbitration/Starward difficulty. And now it sounds like this third game is coming along with the same monetization strategy. People just aren't going to have enough to be spending in here too. So this game would only pick up people who find the Genshin/HSR aesthetic to be appealing, but for some reason aren't already playing Genshin/HSR.

It feels like it either should have had a different aesthetic to appeal to a different audience, or have had a less predatory/highly extractive monetization model. Mihoyo was already branching out from the increasingly oversaturated anime gacha game market with their photorealistic Unreal Engine 5 MMO project.

Well I suppose that explains the expies. Kiana, that white-haired chick from HI3, is in this after all.

With what looks like a Digimon Tamers reject.
1782325164282.png
Slap some thick hips on it, and it could be an alternative evolution branch to Renamon.

That does make the game far more entertaining.

Hope Nintendo get fucked either by lower sales or trying to take it to court and getting destroyed by lawyer Chinks.

With over 1000 pokemons, it's nearly impossible to make a design without it invoking something already existing. The first example is arguing Nintendo has the right to the existence of any fictional dog breed that looks like Pomeranian.
