Handmaidens be handmaidingThis has probably been said, but this weird trend of left-leaning women idolizing troons. Usage of terms like "the dolls" or "femme queens". Why would I go to a man trying to look less like a man for makeup tips or anything woman related? This also hitches onto an odd behavior where troons are falsely credited for the advancements or creative ventures of women. More often than not, the creations of troons are just rip-offs of something that another woman made.
I saw some woman kissing up to a troon on Leddit, saying he looked great. Fucker looked like Dr. Frankenfurter with slightly less makeup. This has probably been said, but this weird trend of left-leaning women idolizing troons. This is called yasslighting and it can be really funny if done with malicious intent. Some women do it to other women they don't particularly like, so I support them doing it to men in skirts (if done on purpose to sabotage them instead of trying to curry favor).I saw some woman kissing up to a troon on Leddit, saying he looked great. To be fair, an entire troons existence is a rip off of being a woman so I'm not surprisedMore often than not, the creations of troons are just rip-offs of something that another woman made
It's replacing the effort that goes into building an identity with consumption. You may not have the best grades, but if you buy fashion items and home decor that make you look studious and intelligent, perhaps people (including yourself) will believe you're those things, so in some roundabout magical thinking way, it will become true. Most "xyz-girl aesthetic" posts are just undisclosed ads.The whole it-girl, clean-girl, downtown-girl, vanilla-girl etc. trends. Those terms do have positive connotations, but for god's sake can't you just say you want to be academically successful or hygienic or like vanilla smells without putting yourself in pointless boxes?
True, though I'd like to add that the it-girl part does to some extent romanticize studying and motivate girls to be the best version of themselves. Some see it as motivation, many get pushed into the consumerism rabbit hole, some do both. It's replacing the effort that goes into building an identity with consumption. Fujos troon out a shitload because they're so preoccupied with gay men having sex that they try to 'become' men in hopes they can one day live out their fetish. That's why most pooners flaunt the fact that they also identify as gay, despite not even havng the anatomy to furfill whatever weird homosexual fantasy they have.I feel the same way about guys into "lesbian" porn. I don't have the data to back it up, but I'm convinced this particular interest has a very high degree of comorbidity with troonery.
I guess fujoshits poon out a lot too?
Even if it does work in the short term, I feel like these trends are far too unstable. Most people need long-term, internal motivation to achieve anything substantial. Social media relies on curating other people's superficial impressions of you, whereas true personal growth is usually quiet and invisible to others. In a year or so, will most of these young women still be thinking of themselves as "it girls," or will they have moved on to other disposable identities that the algorithm chooses for them? It just reminds me of those people who let ChatGPT choose what they eat for lunch, or people who can't resolve a disagreement with their partner without asking Reddit who's in the wrong. It can't be good for your brain.True, though I'd like to add that the it-girl part does to some extent romanticize studying and motivate girls to be the best version of themselves. I wouldn't say I hate it, but I really don't get why so many women enjoy m/m romance.
I'm a zillennial and I work in a female dominated workplace with a bunch of other zillennials and they're all talking about the gay hockey show "heated rivalry". I gave some of it a watch and I just don't get the appeal. Yes, the two leads are hot, but them being lovey dovey and making out did nothing for me. Maybe I've just reached peak faggot idk.
It was originally based on a book series by Rachel Reid that already had a small but devoted fandom, but has now smashed into the Golden Globes and gotten articles on how gay men don't watch it, but women do (according to a gay magazine). Ilya is bisexual in the books and is wholly comfortable with his sexuality while in the show the women are cucked to be loyal allies. Hudson Williams, the Canadian hapa playing Scott, also praised the film Lolita and said he'd love something like that "but not in a pedo way."I heard about that show recently. I don't like sportsball or sportspuck but apparently it has very little hockey in it. Like they know the target audience doesn't watch hockey anyway. It's just a vehicle to make it different from the last gay show. Whatever one that was. Heartstopper?
