The guy they brought back from the dead solely to recast his character as a woman to get people "comfortable with a female doctor" gets offed by his/her past self who also got retconned back from the dead for like two episodes to explain why they weren't actually dead when they decided to bring them back in the first place a few seasons back. This clip is from the latest season, which is the only season they actually started actually trying to write the character more accurate to how they were previously portrayed instead of just a hip, pop-culture spouting Mary Poppins that literally kills people by taking selfies.

In other news, the official Dr. Who Youtube page recently released this video. Considering the timing, this is clearly a deliberate move.

The actual video is just a calm discussion with some cringe inducing moments like claiming the first few doctors were gay, though that specific statement may or may not have been a joke.
What isn't a joke is when they start going on tangents about "trans kids" and how "people that don't live in big cities hate gay people"

The comment section is filled with anger from all sides, mostly people saying "this comment section is filled with homophobia!" but that's only because any kind of comment that isn't that is apparently being deleted by the channel.

That's usually a good rule of thumb. I do think that it's legitimate to be upset, though, if you've been a loyal fan and merch-buyer, and the creators make a big, overt deal over flipping you off and telling you that you were irrelevant all along.

And here's a rant about homophobia that was too long for a screencap.

I have seen rabid scary homophobia since it was initially leaked about Peqrl being gay. And I mean vicious Horrible stuff like me stating "well if people are discussing People they are attracted to my preference would be with woman who were discussing woman" and being told I only talk to people for personal sexual gain. That wqs also cited multiple times as proof that I'm the one that said it.

I'm sure most open minded Straight blokes would happily experience a conversation about attractive men, but would be able to engage better if it was about attractive women. You can only say "Theh seem kind" in so many different ways.

I have been attacked, had my sex life repeatedly and openly discussed, been criticised for being happy about lgbt moments in the show, and just... Goddess I have spent days cryin because I have been treated so Horribly.

6 months before s10 I wrote a post jn a DWho group suggestin a lesbian companion. I was immediately attacked, qnd before I got a chance to respond the thread was deleted and I was banned.

Every single thread I have ever posted on GBabout LGBTQ stuff in Doctor Who has received nasty responses. And sometimes the attacks are so obvious and rough that before I have even finished reading the responses there's already apologies, and posts standing up for me.

I think you explained the story of the show quite well and although it's ridiculous to have such bigotry in the fanbase it's there.

And not only is it there but as far as homophobia it's frightening. It even shows up in fanfiction. And there is racism and sexism. I can't comment on the sexism as much as I haven't been bullied for being female.

I've only been Bullied and treated like garbage by Doctor Who fans for bein like Bill Potts.

(edit: that last sentence has me suddenly torn up and hurtin inside like someone's squeezing my heart with all of their might.)

I had a feeling that she might be :autism: and, well...

Ok Enough on Zoe, but as a woman who knows Carole Ann Ford left cause she was tired of being a screamer, a confident woman like Zoe is delightful. She's also evry well written in that outside of her math and logic she is socially awkward, a little unsure of herself, and like me probably mildly autistic. The Mind Robber and The Invasion were both impressive both due to the strength of story and the noticeable lack of filler.

Bill isn't a Cyberman anymore. The lesbian space puddle from the first episode of the season came back in the finale and turned Bill into another space puddle then they went off to explore space together. Bill is also returning in the Christmas special, although she isn't staying on for Season 11.
