Having a Disney movie where the young protagonist actually recognizes they've made a huge mistake and puts in the effort to fix it, or meets in the middle, would be fresh and subversive today. It says a lot about modern writers that they fixate on revolting against their family or community, when early Pixar habitually depicted healthy leads in paternal positions.
I just remembered Moana is getting a remake. Does Disney expect that to do well? Because even though people liked the original its only been like 8 years since it came out and the second one came out two years ago.
apologies to whoever had plans to make a Theme Parks thread but never bothered, the one in deep thoughts eats and is dead because this is more of a multimedia thing and I'm tired of waiting
maybe wife and me were lucky and it was firing on all cylinders but Monsters Unleashed at Epic Universe is fucking great and is really fucking great to the point it makes me rethink the possibilities of Universal doing a ride
also the view from Cabana Bay overlooking Volcano Bay is dank af
I started a theme park thread so we can be autistic about if Walt wanted ghosts before Madam Leota or not

Moana was also not a very good Disney film, the last "okay" Disney "princess" film that people have hyped up way above its actually quality as a result.
I also think Moana 2, despite being a huge success, being nothing more than a pretty nothing film that came out fairly recently has saturated people enough for them to not really give a shit about Moana as a brand. All surrounded by the general malaise people have towards Disney as a company and brand due to all the garbage they have pumped out.

Ignoring that Moana is less than a decade old and I doubt the kids that saw it then have kids of their own yet, this one also had the slight problem of Dwayne having made himself box office poison compared to his old days of being in literally every other goddamn movie.
No one wanted this remake, and even less people want to see Dwayne play Dwayne for the millionth time.
Patiently waiting on these remakes for the controversy alone.
1. Pocahontas for obvious reasons to numerous to count.
2. Hunchback of Notre Dame because you just know Quasimodo will look like the kind of abomination that makes Milly Alcock blush.
3. Princess and the Frog because they will cast a really ugly black woman for the role.

Song of the South is the one I really do want released and I mean that unironically. I loved that movie as a kid and still hum, whistle, or sing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah all the time.
