In general, Disney's reluctance to create new original ideas for theme park rides instead of stuff based on existing Disney movies or TV shows is really stupid.
Science fiction has a habit of predicting the future. One of its sadder predictions is the stagnation of pop culture. Shows like The Orville are filled with references to media that's relevant now despite taking place far into the future. The main reason is that making up a whole bunch of pop culture stuff that doesn't advance the plot is a waste of time and energy on inconsequential fluff rather than actual substance. It isn't really a prediction, per se, but we're still seeing is play out in real time. We're flooded with reboots, remakes, spinoffs, and sequels rather than new content. Old movies are getting rereleased in theaters after decades. Billboard has changed its criteria because so many song from years past are lingering on the charts.
I'm not surprised. Everyone making art is now competing with everything that isn't lost media. I think it's amazing anyone bothers with new stuff at all.

While we're on the topic of changes made to the Disney parks, I can list some of my personal least favorites:
Changing Splash Mountain from Song of the South into a half-baked....thing from Princess and the Frog. They didn't even bring back the voodoo wizard guy for it, dang it.
Making a section in the Magic Kingdom dedicated to villains. The villains get a place pretty much anywhere in the park already. That's like a theme park version of Malevolands from Toonstruck. Nobody asked for it, nobody wanted it.
The permanent Star Wars theming of Space Mountain in France. There really wasn't any good reason to get rid of the De la Terre à la Lune theming in the first place, the re-theming from mission 2 to Star Wars was a million times more pointless.

Not just black people, I would not at all be surprised if they’re considering the sensibilities of religious conservatives. They have money to spend and a lot of kids and Disney probably doesn’t want to have one of their most visible attractions covered in spoopy voodoo skulls.

I dunno I feel like this is one of these opinions that starts with the conclusion of "blame black people" and then works back to a nonsensical argument. Dr. Facilier isn't "being portrayed as a villain," he IS the villain in the Princess and the Frog. This idea that black people can't handle black villains in black stories is a novel one to me.

Hi, I don't know where else to post this. Allow me to introduce you all to a personal cow of mine: Christina Wait, aka @thedisneybarbie (archive). She has several instagrams & a tiktok as well that I can/should archive at some point. I just can't be the only non-retard seeing this weirdo shit.
Christina Wait is a Disney-flavored "momfluencer" who lives in Florida with her 5 year old daughter Everleigh and takes her to didney worl to do weird photoshoots pretty much every day. This post made me immediately both intrigued and concerned:

Yeah, turns out this woman is as fucked up as she looks. She allegedly owes about $70k in back child support, but why? As it turns out, this lady has 5 kids by 3 different dads. The first two are adults who allegedly do not speak to her by choice. The next oldest might be an adult now as well, but she and her younger minor sister live with their dad and stepmom, who posts about Christina in a group on Facebook called "Villains Parking" dedicated to a-logging Christina and a few other people, like this weird old lady who stalks a piano player I guess. Christina's youngest daughter is Everleigh, whose dad is not in the picture.
Why did she lose custody of her kids, you ask? She allegedly forced an older daughter to be some kind of gymnastics influencer against her and the father's will, exploited her online, then did not stop once court-ordered, according to the stepmom (who also may have reason to lie, to be fair. Who knows what's really going on in this mess of crazy). According to the comments/the stepmom, her reward for this was supervised visitation, during which she apparently physically attacked her daughter for, idk, not wanting to be a gymnast? Anyway, she says she got her rights terminated, but the stepmom says she just stopped paying child support/calling for visitation since she couldn't use the kids for content, and moved to Florida. At some point in there she also had Everleigh. I guess a few years ago there was controversy over her basically putting her toddler in a really revealing outfit all over the internet, having her do bikini fashion shows (??), and other gross stuff. A few of the stepmom's posts on facebook are provided under the spoiler for your perusal.
don't want to go back in and find it but she also said this child found where Christina had recently screenshotted and posted a photo of her at a school dance with her school name in it to an audience of thousands, in spite of the court order.
Christina loves attention, so she responds to the "haters" every single time, often with direct screenshots from their group...
In between posting her daughter in gymnastics outfits to an audience of creeps (these are comments on just such a post--I actually cropped one out because on a few of these, there's the odd comment with a couple of (always similar) "gibberish" looking words and strings of numbers/letters. Probably just somebody sitting on their phone, so boring, but on the extremely unlikely chance it's something nefarious I could be spreading around I just wanted to leave it out for now.

Many of the comments were trolls saying she looks "50-60." She's 41. This really messed with her ego, so she posted a bunch more hoochie pictures of herself dressed up like a cartoon stock car with complaints about the responses.
I don't know that this lady is really worth a thread on her own, but she's definitely exploiting her daughter and giving me the ick. She also did go ahead and make this new (replacement? ) daughter an instagram account too, but I don't feel right linking it for the kid's sake.
I found a gofundme (archive; she is almost definitely Christina Peterson of Redding, CA. This is where the stepmom lives) as well.
If anybody cares enough to dig, there's probably a lot more here. She occasionally makes socks to infiltrate the villains group and cause trouble, too. I know she deletes comments on her pages as well, but is unlikely to DFE. It's like impossible to archive Facebook posts the typical way I guess, so most of this is just screenshots (if anyone knows how to do that, I'm happy to archive. I'm just done trying to figure it out).
