The woke have tried for years to blackify and gayify both Bats and Supes, fortunately they haven't succeeded yet. In fact, I half expected Damian to be made gay for this Supes son.

I won't be surprised if that did happen, DC is very trigger happy with fagging up their characters for social asspats, until they just get public ass spankings. There's a reason that the pink-haired Asian twink fag (Jay Nakamura, I think was his name) is nowhere to be seen since his appearance.

But James Gunn has outwardly expressed disdain for Superman, saying that he only added Krypto to the movie to "get" Superman. The manlet didn't even know Clark Kent's middle name during the press of the movie.

And yeah, while Snyder didn't get Superman either, I never got the vibe that he hated him at least. And there IS reverence to his character throughout the Snyderverse, even though movies like Man of Steel and Batman V Superman aren't good. lol.

At least there are good elements to Man of Steel too. I hated the James Gunn Superman movie through and through.

My opinion on Snyder's Superman is exactly my opinion on Snyder's Watchmen: There's clear reverence to the source material and the characters, but it's a misfire. I'd take that anyday over the postmodern and self-aware garbage that comes out today though.

Kate Kane and Jo are are fine because being gay isn't the entirety of the character.
Jon being gay was lame because he was just gay super boy.
I don't want to read a comic about the MC protesting at BLM rallies or marching in pride parades.
I want to read comics to escape that shit, not have it shoved in my face harder.

I doubt they would retcon him back to straight but since he is supposed to be bisexual, they can just have him be with a woman and not draw attention to it beyond saying "he likes both genders". Jay does not have actual fans anyway.

They did have some successes. Poison Ivy’s is now accepted as lesbian as a default. Despite the fact that she was obviously meant to be a femme fatale for Bruce to be tempted by.

Let me clarify my position.

Snyder made a Superman without understanding what the appeal is. He had him fight but failed to see that his sunny disposition was a main draw to the character.

Gunn is a smug prick who thinks Superman is a soylatte awkward idiot and wrote him as such with full confidence.

Usually Batman fans write Joker owning Superman ( see Injustice). But I think it would be the opposite. He would troll Joker and make him regret messing with him.

I was getting sold personally on Ivy and Kite man like they did their Harley Quinn show. But they chickened out and again did Harley and Ivy as a couple even if this version of Harley was obnoxious. DC overall is pushing this hard to be the default, and I don’t see many people complaining.

If they ever made Ivy be interested in a man, and not in a manipulative way, I do think the usual crowd wouldn’t stop screaming about “gay erasure”. So for the time being she is a lesbian for all intents and purposes.

If you have to write those in, why not have a hero stand guard to make sure nobody tries to hurt the protesters?

The difference is that it wasn't forced. Those who watched BTAS liked them together. There was a lot of chemistry before they made it official. Can you say that about most other such couples? Jon and Jay? Tim and that twink?
